[Solved] Help, lost disk space in root!

Hi I've just done a reinstall of Mint Mate 14 64-bit on my laptop to get rid of the dual booting with Windoze 7 which I never use. I keep getting a message saying that I have 0 GB left in the Root partition. My disk is partitioned as follows: / 11.17 GB /home 186.26 GB swap 3.91 GB Unallocated 96.74...

Re: Can't select HDMI output

O.K. I can get HDMI sound working by going to Menu>Control Center>Sound>Hardware and selecting Digital Sterio (HDMI) Output but I then have to go back to Analogue Sterio Output to get the built in speakers working after I unplug the HDMI cable. There must me a simpler way of switching between sound ...

Re: Can't select HDMI output

Thanks usbtux. The mouse pointer must have frozen because I hit F5 by mistake and switched to external mouse. The problem here is that the function key, F4, doesn't seem to work. I had problems with the special function F keys in another distro. Most of them work in Mint but F4 doesn't. Howev...

Can't select HDMI output

I have a Toshiba Satellite C870 with Linux Mint 14 Mate installed. When I connect my talevision to the HDMI output the Monitor Preferences window opens and shows a choice of the laptop screen and the TV screen. Fantastic I thought! But . . . the mouse 'touchpad) pointer disappears so I can't select ...

New recruit from France

Hi all, Bought a new laptop just before Christmas, a Toshiba Satellite C870. It came with Windoze 7 and so was a knock down price. Why does everyone want Windoze 8? I've been using PCLinuxOS for about 4 years so set it up as dual boot with that distro. It seemed to go OK but it was a struggle to get...

Re: Changing Grub menu entries

Thanks,
Looks like I have lots of reading to do. I'm used to Grub rather than Grub2.

Changing Grub menu entries

Hi, Just bought a new laptop. It had Windoze 7 on it so I installed my usual Linux distro, however there were some problems with the wifi so I installed Mint 14 Mate 64 bit and that works flawlessly. I now have a triple boot system and the Grub menu is a little complicated with too many options and ...
