Are you sure you really need 8.8, wouldn't 8.6 suffice? If it's ok just run the application called EnvyNg included in your Mint installation, the rest should be obvious. If you really need 8.8 then you can just try double clicking on the .run file you've downloaded, for me the ATI installer worked o...

Thanx for all the answers, I noticed one more thing that I'll miss from Ubuntu - the option to run installer without booting from the cd. It has been added in Hardy, so maybe it will eventually find it's way into Mint?

For many reasons, to save disk space is one, because I do not like things I don't need lying around is another :)

Evolution?

I'm sorry to show my ignorance but from what I see Mint uses Thunderbird as default with Evolution not installed (a great choice btw), yet in the update manager I see a few evolution packages. What applications require them?
