Looking for cross-platform applications

I use both Linux and Windows on my machine. Even though I have to boot Windows from time to time I like to feel there at home, so I try to use applications that run under both systems. I was not able to find a nice list of such programmes, so if anyone knows any please post. Below is the list of cro...

I never had any problems with glipper and I do not know Parcellite so cannot say, but the point of the idea is not so much that we need glipper as a default - we need any application that provides this functionality.

Suggestion - glipper installed by default

Clipboard managers are always useful in every OS, but especially so in Linux - due to a silly design choice, in Linux you lose what you copied if you close the application it was copied from. Thus, especially for new users having glipper installed is crucial. Currently Mint inherits a strange choice...

Re: Pauses in 8.10

That's a very strange problem you're having... I'd say that whatever it was caused by chances that Mint inherited it from 8.10 are very high, unless it has been fixed in the mean time. If trying a liveCD is not an option for you, you could ask around in Ubuntu forums, maybe somebody else has experie...

You will get everything Ubuntu has, and more. There are a few tiny (really) issues when compared to Ubuntu (you can find them described on the page about the release), but nothing serious or noticeable. Generally I'd say Mint is directed towards a very similar customer base as Ubuntu, it just does ...

Re: Imwheel and Mint 6

And there mice with as many as 11 buttons out there! :) That's not a mouse - it's a keyboard :) :) :D Yes, well put. Seems Xorg nowadays is very good at working with multibutton mice, we just need a nice GUI to edit which button does what... should be fairly easy to do (being more or less just a fr...

Re: Imwheel and Mint 6

It's really a pity that apparently there's no GUI front end for this Yes, but as I stated almost all mice should now be autoconfigured... But autoconfiguration is of little use... Real life example - My mouse has 5 buttons, default uses of button 4 and 5 are "back" and "forward", I do not find it u...

Re: Imwheel and Mint 6

The lmwheel home page did not exactly seem reliable..... I dislike and don't trust messy pages with a black background  You should not have to do any configuration. Here's some info http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=19679 but this is no tool :) Thanks for the info, I'll try...

Previous versions of Mintinstall served as a front end to removed, the one coming with Mint 6 seems not to be using removed any more, which kind of kills one of the big advantage of mint install over gnome install (access to current application versions). Imwheel and Mint 6

Hi, I just installed Imwheel on Mint 6, no icon has been created on the menu, furthermore when I run it from the command line nothing happens... Does anyone know what may be wrong? Also is there any other Mint 6 compatible software that allows for mouse button reconfiguration?

Re: Linux Mint 6 "Felicia" RC1 released!

And in the live cd you would need to delete all config files and folders (the ones that are like '.filename') in order for the felicia settings to install correctly. IMHO This is not a good piece of advice. While some settings can indeed break the behaviour of new versions, some folders should be k...

Re: Linux Mint 6 "Felicia" RC1 released!

@ big_dog1968 Did you try compatibility mode? That did it - thanks. New problem. EnvyNG does not appear on the menu even though it shows that it is installed in Synaptic. I tried to manually launch, but no luck. I went to /usr/share/envy/launcher and double clicked the icon and that didn't work eit...

Re: Internet connection sharing GUI

I'm a Linux newbie and I tried to follow that guide and "broke" my internet and had to re-install linux mint. Easy internet connection sharing is one of my favorite features of vista. It is really useful to give my palmtop + laptop access to the internet via my work PC's wifi card without bothering...

Anyone else ha...

Re: Linux Mint 6 "Felicia" RC1 released!

Just had a quick look at the live CD and cannot see envy at all - Has it been dropped ? In favour of what to install video drivers ? Simply ATM there is no GTK frontend for it, but you can install QT frontend (it's in the repos), it should work fine. That said due to new X there is no big choice of...
