Re: Linux Mint 6 "Felicia" RC1 released!

Will the Ooo 3 be in romero or other repository at least? We'll have to wait for Ubuntu for that - too much work to make our own deb package - it's just the splash that's different But the debs have been done for a long while now, it's just a matter of placing them in a repo, instead of having them...

Anyway, Mint 6 looks like a almost perfect distro... If only there was an easy way to configure additional mouse buttons and internet connection sharing it would be perfect :)

Re: Linux Mint 6 "Felicia" RC1 released!

Hey there: Will the new release provide perhaps new theme or artwork? This is something Intrepid Ibex and Hardy Heron promised but didn't deliver. Maybe a new Minty artwork can make amends and bring more people over to this great distro. Intrepid does have a new theme, just not completely different...

Re: Linux Mint 6 "Felicia" RC1 released!

A few questions:

1.Could anyone please tell me which OpenOffice is included in 6? And, if it is 2.4, is 3.0 in the repositories?
2. How is the wubi work progressing?
3. Is the feature list "final", or is it possible that 6 will include some features not present in 6RC1 or just bug fixes?

Re: Linux Mint 5 Fluxbox released!

In Virtualbox 2.9 GB and it works fine with 256 MB set aside I lowered to 183 MB and although it seemed to run fine I got some error closing down so 196 is perhaps the least I can recommend However to install with 196 MB you need to create a swap file first as the live CD uses "a bit" more Thanx fo...

Re: Linux Mint 5 Fluxbox released!

I'm sorry for asking a question that probably is already answered, but:

Could you please give me the exact Hdd space taken by the clean Fluxbox installation? Also what is recommended (for comfortable work, not minimal) amount of RAM required?

Internet connection sharing GUI

While all the necessary things to share your internet connection are in the system you still need to configure it in CLI (or install firestarter, but is a firewall really necessary?). Since a GUI would be enough (as the sharing itself is well done) it should not be a very difficult task and it would...

Mouse buttons configuration utility

Many (if not most) people have a mouse with more than 3 buttons, still under any Linux distro making a full use of them is harder than in Windows, and after all this is something one notices 5 seconds after booting the system up. I believe that still this issue is neglected somewhat. Ubuntu 8.10 int...

Re: Default video player in Linux Mint 6

VLC is rather problem free and supports most formats. Not to mention the fact that it is cross-platform. Totem is an ok player but only just so... Ubuntu uses Totem for the same reason as Evolution i.e. because it has been chosen by the Gnome team, since Mint abandons that logic in other areas why n...

Re: Mint 6 and OO.org 3?

Fix what - I don't know but in this article the Ubuntu dev Colin Watson talks about possible bugs http://www.tectonic.co.za/?p=3447 But mainly the reason was the delay in the release of OO 3 Each and every piece of software this complicated is bound to have some bugs, but there is nothing point out...

Re: Mint 6 and OO.org 3?

This is yet to be decided Maybe OO will have time to fix "whatever it was" in time for us to include OO 3 Fix what? It did not become part of 8.10 simply because it was released too late. But now packages are ready (even a repo) so since Mint has some extra time before the release maybe it could ma...

Will MInt 6 include OO.org 3 by default or will it like Ubuntu ship with 2.4?

XFCE is not the lightest desktop there is, but it is more old-computer friendly than Gnome or KDE.

Re: Will Mint 6 fork from 8.10?

@Husse - That's a perfectly valid reason of course... Although adding Wubi support would make Mint the most beginner friendly distro of them all :) I've not used Wubi but it sounds like an unpleasant option. If you can install Linux without having to reboot at what point do you realise that you are ...

Re: Will Mint 6 fork from 8.10?

It will continue on it's own road, good things in 8.10 will be included (and I'm afraid some bad too) Wubi is an entirely different case - for that the wubi team must work on Mint and it seems they won't do that Why would Wubi team have to do anything? Wubi is open and there is nothing preventing u...

Two Questions about Mint Menu

1. Looking at Opensuse Gnome screenshots I see that they have something similar to mint menu, is it just a coincidence or is there some cooperation?

2. Has the Mint Menu been tested by anyone with Ubuntu 8.10? If so with what results and what would be the best way to install it?

Will Mint 6 fork from 8.10?

What are the plans for Mint 6, will it be forked from 8.10 or will just some features of 8.10 be ported in? Maybe forking it would make make adding in wubi support easier?
