Re: Cannot Enable Wifi Connection on Linux Mint 18.1

so - it's still an driver issue, & you've got it working on Windows 8)

thus, another driver will be needed for the Linux system as well & Jeremy should be able to help you with that.

& He already has, it seems.

Re: Cannot Enable Wifi Connection on Linux Mint 18.1

Hi Carol,

even though, it says that it's not Hard Blocked:
- on that Lenovo - can you toggle the WiFi switch OFF /ON to see if that has any effect ?

the Network Icon on the Taskbar - - does that say if any WiFi connections are available ?

Re: Wanting to convert from Windows 10

you should have a decimated post, for each machine, that you are working on:
but:
A1: an lightweight system like https://mxlinux.org/ would work, on that.

A2: it should be able to boot an usb stick, but do check the BIOS / UEFI settings, for that option.

Re: Can't remove Gimp 2.10 (with ppa-purge)

even if an program was actually added via an PPA,,
- then you should still be able to remove that program via Package Manager AKA synaptic.
at least, that's what I've always found, that it works.

Re: Adding a GRUB entry for a bootloader

so - I'n not sure, whether you can even do that,, but:
if that other drive has an operating system on it, then:
sudo update-grub
in Terminal - - should find it & add it to the existing menu.

Re: Adding a GRUB entry for a bootloader

when you do run the installer, from your usb stick,
- it should ask where to place that Grub Boot Loader - - usually on SDa - the Host Machine.

Re: Lost my second internal hard drive for the default user

Hi paul,

that 2nd internal drive is not shown in 'computer' at all ?
- in the Menu Tree, on the left side of that panel, that is.

apart from that issue, what is giving you the impression, that you may need to re-install - again ?.

Re: Mint 19.1 install on Win 7 Computer.

Hi David, the installer should not install to any drive / partition that you do not specify, during the installation. however, just to be safe, rather than sorry - - do < tempory > disconnect any other drive(s) during the actual installation process - - - that PCIe NVMe drive - you may not be discon...

what I've done on LM19.x - was to UN-install Gimp 2.8 via Package Manager AKA synaptic, and then install with the known PPA: https://launchpad.net/~otto-kesselgulasch/+archive/ubuntu/gimp or http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2018/04/how-to-install-gimp-2-10-in-ubuntu-18-04-17-10-via-ppa/ and that ...

Re: how to properly exit live usb and reboot to windows

if this is a brand new machine & you are still finding your way around it, then it's best to always do a Full Shutdown / Power-Off thing. then, remove your usb stick & power the machine back up, again. - the extra time taken, is not that huge & your confidence with your new machine will increase, ov...
