in Theory - you shouldn't be able to Recovery Any Data from any encrypted partition / drive:
- otherwise, if you could do so - then that would defeat the whole point of that encryption - - wouldn't it ?.

When I was at the friends house I noticed that the Wi-Fi symbol was active, so I assumed I'd fixed it. I am going to look for a tutorial about this. Perhaps its a simple fix.? that Windows 98 Install Disk is a CD & the Linux Mint 19 install disk is an DvD size. & your CD drive may actually be an CD drive & not an DVD drive - - especially if it is an older machine. so - you'll need an ISO that fits onto an CD rather than onto an DVD for your older machine to be able to rea...

Nope - Mint doesn't have this course of action,,
and most of those issues do come from upstream, as well.
- -the LinuxMint Team does rely on what is achieved upstream,
and sometimes those actions don't always sit comfortably with the LinuxMint User base.

if necessary - just manually type the results, of that Terminal command,, - - you should be able to just Copy & Paste the result, directly from Terminal to this forum's page. most folk seem to be able to achive that, quite easily. for reference - - this would be the issue, as stated, over on LinuxQu...

does the machine have any stickers, that would indicate it's original Operating System ?.

there is an high probability, that it is an 64 bit machine, though.
