The RC ran horribly, but that was a VirtualBox install, so I'll hold off judgemnet until official release.

Re: Microsoft is Doomed

The desktop was in decline long before Windows 8 showed up on the scene.

The only button that OS designers and software engineers care about these days is the "BUY NOW!" button.

It's all about monetising exploitable commodities.

Why dual boot two different installs when you can have both desktops environments in one install?

I pity ATI card owners. They really should be treated better than this...especially by a company that announced "enhanced Linux support" a few years back.

Re: random system lockups on every linux flavor

Raidmax power supplies are generally regarded as garbage.

Asrock (although there are fans who will swear by it) is a "budget" (I'm being kind) motherboard manufacturer.

What graphics card do you have?

What was your previous desktop environment before XFCE? Can you log in to that?

No thanks.

I switched to Linux Mint Mate Edition from Ubuntu w/Unity precisely because I didn't want a phone interface on my desktop.

Re: video formats using StopMotion animation software

I can't remember if the option to export to a series of images (JPEG...whatever) is there.

I would load up the individual images in Avidemux. I've done stop motion with stopmotion before.
