Re: Keyboard not working correctly and sound issues

I don't have issues with sound. You might need to check within Terminal and go alsamixer check what card you are using. It can be pulseaudio. You may need to adjust your hotkeys for accessing the menus. As for adjusting the acceleration, for me, it doesn't matter what I adjust it too. It's still spo...

Re: Installing mint

Mint will install on the SSD if you choose to have it so.
The installer gives you options. Your install is not permanent until you select it to be so. If there is an error in the install, it will tell you that you.
Take your time to do the install. Taking your time will result in a proper install.

Re: Freeze in installation

Hi. I can try to help answer for some possible scenarios. 1. you might have a bad installation disk. 2. Since this is happening repeatedly, another reason might be because of a hardware issue. 3. The video cards might be hanging the system. (the graphics card driver is not initializing properly). Yo...

Hi. I am having similar issues as you have with the cursor jumping about. Have you tried to enter the Mouse settings of your operating system and adjusting the speed of the cursor?

Re: Grub installation after dual boot error

Is your system a UEFI system? Was windows updated recently? If it was, then it might or may have replaced Grub <---Windows never plays nice. Only Linux plays nice. Are you able to enter the LMDE edition with a live CD of LMDE? If so, you could try the following commands at this link as the link that...

Re: Boot Windows from Linux

ok. I see what your up against. at this point, you almost had it but what you need to do is enter the BIOS or CMOS of your system. You do that by selecting F2 immediatly while it is booting up . You might have to select F2 rapidly and multiple times during the boot process of your computer. If succe...

Re: Kernel upgrade went wrong

I don't know if I can help you much but I did hear through the grapevine that installing latest kernel might not always be of benefit to everyone as there are problems associcated with kernels that might not agree with some of your drivers. If at anypoint in time that you want to uninstall this newe...

Re: Ubiquity - insufficient

It's important to recognize that anyone wanting to respond to some of your statements has to take into consideration that your statements are your opinion only. What might work for you does not imply that it works for someone else or to another distribution (i.e. installer, installation programs). H...

Re: Installing mint

no it will or should not be installed on your SSD. Unless you want it too. You can have it wipe your Windows drive if you choose to have it so installed. If not, have it partitioned. The live installer gives you a Gparted. Using gparted, or even the partition tool that comes with the installer tool ...

Re: Graphical issues?

I don't believe any kernel upgrades or distribution upgrade will help solve this issue. In my opinion, they won't . As evidenced by my own personal history in having had a similar issue when I was a Windows user. An interesting phenomena was that prior to switching to Linux, Windows had very similar...

Re: Dual boot win7 Mint 17 no grub

Hi. I can try to help you. You will need to get a live cd iso. The same one that you used to install your version of mint with. Judging from your output, it seems that the efi partition is 1 1049kB 106MB 105MB primary ntfs boot You will have to confirm that by bringing up Gparted from within the liv...

Is or wouldn't there be something in your fstab file? if not, do you remember which dirextory they might be under? For example, under /usr If for example, they are under that directory, you could use the find command to locate them. Does your file end in a certain .txt or .cfg? Let's say it ends in ...

I'm sorry but I don't quite understand what you might be looking for. Are you looking to boot your computer without boot selection navigation? You just want 1 menu (Grub)? can you post output of where your efi boot partition might be? sudo fdisk -l it will say /dev/sda1 or /dev/sda2 or /dev/sda3 ......

One method is: 1. Download Rescatux (found by Googling). <----Can also use a Rooted Android (if you have rooted capability) with Drive Droid app installed to your Android phone to boot up your computer. (See that's what Linux-GNU OS does for you! Android is built on Unix). Download and install Resca...

Re: Installing/Booting Linux Mint on HP Envy with UEFI

Hi. I realize that my post might be a tad too late. I have an HP Envy as well. With Mint installed on it. Initially, it had 8.1 installed on it as well. It also had UEFI on it as well. I believe that I had done something similiar to what you tried. I was thinking of dual booting with Windows as well...
