Re: How install a Zip file

Hi. Yes I can help you. You mention that you downloaded some icons and theme files and these were inside a zip file, is this what your talking about? If so, this is very easy. Do the following after you have extracted the contents into your Download folder ( assuming they are in your Download folder...

Re: Unable to boot (dual boot) into 2nd OS

Yes. This is now 100 % resolved. Upon boot, Open Suse was available for booting. Everything is fine now. Thank you again.
And yes, when I do receive a newer kernel from Open Suse, I will have to update grub from within Mint as it handles the Grub menu.

Re: Unable to boot (dual boot) into 2nd OS

First. Thank you for your continuing help. After testing out the newer grub settings, I had expected all would be good as per Terminal outputs. The problem that I am experiencing after the solutions posted above (which should have worked correctly) is that I am not getting a full Grub menu. To more ...

Re: Computer problem. It won't boot up

Hello. You'll need to go to: etc/fstab In that fstab file, you'll see your UUID for your sd card. You have 2 options: (1) via terminal and root privileges, you can comment out that UUID for that sd card ( recommended ) or; (2) via terminal and root privileges, you can remove that line for that sd ca...

[SOLVED] Unable to boot (dual boot) into 2nd OS

Hello. I have Linux Mint 17.2 installed on /dev/sda2 and Open Suse on /dev/sda4 Grub does not display all OS. That is, because I am dual booting both mint and Open Suse, I should have a Grub menu. However, I am not being presented with a Grub Menu and hence not able to boot into the second operating...

Re: usb image writer

Hi pop. What buzzsaw and oxygenfarm are trying to mention is that after you have placed your PclinuxOS onto your USB, you then have to 1. Reboot your computer; >>> during it's reboot phase, quickly (very quickly) select F2, F8, F12 (keep pressing ONE of those buttons. Not TWO), or any key binding th...

Re: New here

Interesting story you have there, morphias. I quite enjoyed reading your small blurb about your history with getting into Linux. I, myself was always hesitant when I was using Windows. It came to a halt one time where I got really fed up with Windows, it's bloated system, it 's convoluted and labyri...

intersesting. Most everywhere I go, I see the same problems encountered in LM bluetooth. I have this very same problem and have been working on it for days. I have also tried the pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover to no avail. That number that you give '23' suggests that f the module was no...

Re: Seperate DE on seperate User Accounts

I am thinking that the desktop is associated with each specific Linux OS installation, so that the only real way of keeping them completely separate (for apps you say) is to have two partitions installed with different Linux OS installs.. --when those conditions exist, then the question is how to l...

Re: Seperate DE on seperate User Accounts

Ahh. I see. Ya, I can see how this might be tricky then. Might not be a good idea then. The reason why I was interested in such a set up is, from my own personal history in using other DE, apart from the main one, is that the programs and soft wares from each separate DE, when installed are always i...

Seperate DE on seperate User Accounts

Hi. I currently have set up LM 17.1 with MATE as the main DE. What I'd like to do is set up a seperate user account having a seperate DE. In this case, the seperate DE would be XFCE. My goal is to to have XFCE on the second user account while only MATE DE would remain on the 1st user account. I don'...

Re: Steam stopped working after LM17.1 update

I have Steam installed as well; however, it's on a 64 bit version. I have had no issues with the 64 bit version that I utilize. I'm no guru but having read your post, perhaps it's a '32-bit' problem as opposed to being potentially both 32 and 64 bit problem.
