Re: How to install graphical drivers?

Hi

Have you tried Administration: Drive Manager?
If it doesn't work, you can always use Timeshift or simply uninstall from the driver manager.

Re: HOW TO change graphics drivers on installed LM19 from within a live usb?

Hi

If you've installed LM19, then you don't need the live USB to install graphics drivers.
Just click on administration, driver manager and follow the instructions. In the vast majority of cases, that will work.
Hope this helps.

Re: Invalid block device size? What does it mean?

Hi Many thanks for the reply. In fact, although the read was slow, it ripped the titles successfully. I suppose I was wondering if this really is a bug in the kernel, or if it's a peculiarity of the program. Anyway, it didn't matter too much in the end, either way. I'll mark this as solved. Thanks R...

Invalid block device size? What does it mean? Solved.

Hi, all I've been using MakeMKV and so far it's been a very useful program. Today, I inserted a disc and got the following message: Device '/dev/sr0' is partially inaccessible due to a bug in Linux kernel (it reports invalid block device size). This can be worked around, but read speed may be very s...

Re: How to install nvidia-304

Hi
First, look in administration- driver manager. See if the correct driver can be installed that way.
Usually best to try that method first, if possible.

Re: <SOLVED> Windows doesn't boot after installing Linux Mint

Hi Are you going to install Windows using the entire drive? If so, I don't think you need to resize a partition, certainly from my experience of dual booting Windows and Linux Mint. Install Windows, then boot your live Linux mint DVD or USB. At installation, you will be asked if you want to install ...

Oracle Java 8 repository changed label? [Solved]

Hi, all Phd21 gave me some very helpful instructions as to how to install Java to enable Bluray menus. For detail, please see this post: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=277758 The label for this PPA has now changed (I'm getting an update failed message in the update manager). I...

Re: Unreliable VPN? Solved, and thank you.

Hi Phd21 and others
Many thanks again for your replies. I've been extremely busy with work this week, but I will take the steps you recommend this weekend.
By the way, I am using Open DNS servers- not sure if that is relevant here, but thought I would mention it.

Re: cinammon and xfce together

Hi If you choose to install, you will be given the option to install XFCE alongside Cinnamon. They will be on separate partitions. You can choose to have all your data on one partition, but you'll need to install Wine, etc on the new XFCE installation. Alternatively, I believe it's possible to insta...

Re: Unreliable VPN? Solved, and thank you.

Hi Phd21 and others Many thanks for the replies. I shall certainly investigate all of the things you've recommended. In fact, before I disabled ipv6, my true location was visible, in any VPN- I tried quite a few. So I presume that my ISP does support ipv6, although I will check this. I had actually ...

Re: Unreliable VPN? Solved, and thank you.

Hi, all I hadn't realised (although I know I should have) that VPNbook had changed their servers. So the fix was a simple one in the end. Thank you for giving me that information- I knew where to look. By the way, would buying a different modem router make any difference with regards to ipv6? I am w...

Re: Unreliable VPN?

Hi, all Many thanks for the replies. I do appreciate people taking the trouble to answer. First, I am using VPNbook , which has always served me well before. I have disabled ipv6 because my location was visible- I think because of my ISP (I'm using their router), although I'm not too sure of that. I...

Unreliable VPN? Solved, and thank you.

Hi, all I set up OpenVPN according to instructions kindly supplied by Phd21, as in this post: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=226352 My problem is that, although I'm using the same, saved configurations, sometimes they just time out and fail to connect- is this usual behaviour?...

Hi
Thank you fort clarifying that.
I have in the past messed up my connection, accidentally, so want to be cautious.
Also, I was confused when two posts seemed to contradict each other.
Thanks again
