Re: How to fix: update errors about Medibuntu

Thank you! All my machines had stopped updating a few days ago. Why did the Medibuntu project stop?

Re: Nvidia 319 driver Optimus support - Bumblebee Clarificat

MATE 13 just updated the video driver to 304.88. I noticed in Synaptic there is newer Nvidia 319. Is it recommended to install it?

How to increase panel icon size

When you increase panel size, icons do not scale proportionately. Notification tray icons do resize though. I found an app in Synaptic "gnome-color-chooser" but it doesn't seem to do it. The panel size here is 49 px. Any ideas how to get a fat Win7-type taskbar?

Re: Change Icon size in cinnamon panel

Do you also know how to increase the size of app icons in MATE? It's easy enough to increase the panel size but icons do not scale proportionately. There is an app in Synaptic "gnome-color-chooser" that looks promising.

Re: Wireless problems in Mint 13 with ASUS N13 (0b05:17ab)

My wireless was working just fine (ath9k) then .... intermittent no data, or no connect, or just a trickle of data. Of all things to fail! So I right-clicked on the taskbar bluetooth icon and turned it off. Then magically wireless works again. HTH

Re: MINT14 64-bit on SD Card - boot problem

Grub seems unable to boot from this cardreader. I think it would be a bug in Grub and don't just know a workaround for that. so that means I would sumbit a bugreport if I think this should get fixed here? http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?group=grub I don't think it's a Linux bug, the card reader is si...

Re: MINT14 64-bit on SD Card - boot problem

ok, this is typed from the SD Card I had installed MINT 14. It is running finally from a Card Reader in USB Stick (or let's beeter call it brick) format. It looks beautiful. Something like a 5x4 cm ugly brick, hanging pretty loose from one of the USB ports. If you look at it too harsh it potentiall...

Re: MINT14 64-bit on SD Card - boot problem

Is that an internal SD card reader? HP have some proprietary stuff. Try using external USB card reader and/or a different flash drive. Does it install then? Yes internal Card Reader (that's actually the whole idea about this). The only external Card reader lying around is a LUMIX digital Camera. Us...

Re: MINT14 64-bit on SD Card - boot problem

The installer let's you sit and watch for hours?! This is normally a 5 min job. Ideally you should let the installer format the flash drive, which will also get rid of the existing volume label that bothers you. Use gparted to see where your flash drive is, i.e. sdb, sdc, sdd, etc. and use that to g...

Re: MINT14 64-bit on SD Card - boot problem

Is your Windows still booting properly? This shouldn't be so much work, I've done it many times. Lets assume your flash drive is /dev/sd d . Do a custom install to /dev/sd d 1 and just below also select to put grub in /dev/sd d . If done this way, you Windows disk is left unchanged and boots using i...

Re: Bootable USB(not live) performance tweaks

Use a USB 3.0 card reader with an SDHC UHS flash drive. That combo reads at 75MB/s & writes at 45MB/sec, so the OS will feel as fast as any hard disk. USB 2.0 will work as well, the speed of the UHS flash drive is more important.

Re: MINT14 64-bit on SD Card - boot problem

Better to do a manual install ("Something Else") where you specify to install the OS and grub to the flash drive (/dev/sd___). Otherwise the installer may put grub on the Windows disk, leaving the flash card unbootable. Then use the BIOS boot menu (F8/F12) to boot your flash drive.
