Re: Firefox 57 - Quantum

To me, having Noscript broken is a No-Go. I tried a few others, but I'm too familiar with NoScript to refrain from it. Unfortunately I pressed "update" to fast in Linux Mints Package Tool (mintinstall 7.7.5). How do I "undo" the migration from FF (last version, don't know) to Quantum (57) ? I was u...

Re: browser: alternatives to Firefox 57

Memory hog, though not as bad as FF Looks like FireFox 57 uses about 310 megs here. Is that a problem in the day when 4 Gig or 8 Gig systems are pretty much the norm ? 32-bit ESR FF in my XP virtual machine uses about that. But on 64-bit OSes it eventually hogs 4 GB or more. https://www.dropbox.com...

Re: browser: alternatives to Firefox 57

Firefox was the most customizable browser, but apparently that is not what the majority of users want (FF = 8% ?!). I've put FF on ignore as of v56 and trying out Chrome (ouch). Extensions : - NoScript alternative, ScriptSafe seems to work (any others?) - Cookies, I've found nothing good so far, usi...

Re: Firefox 57...Quantum

I loved that in FF, and only FF, I could click on a link and it would open in a new tab. Huh. I've got both my SeaMonkey and my Pale Moon set up to do that. It's just another setting. Chromium and Iridium will do it if I use my middle mouse button to click... and so does FF57. Until something bette...

Re: Xcopy alternative

I to am looking for an XCOPY alternative. I used XCOPY in DOS & Windows for file backup. xcopy /s /m c:\*.mp3 d:\ This scans all subdirectories on and turns off the archive bit for all MP3's on c:\ after copying to d:\. I currently use rsync for backups but you can not specify a file mask. rsync on...

Re: Firefox 57 - Quantum

Supposedly FF57 disables all your addons, if that be so I'm putting FF on ignore in Update Mgr.

Re: Change window border colour on active window

In 18.2 mine are all grey even tough my theme specifies different color for active window. What version are you running? 18.2 Cinnamon. Check the screenshot above for the settings that gave me coloured titlebars. I did have to play around with it; i suspect some bugginess. But it sort of works, eve...

Cinnamon generally ignores border and titlebar color. Try my custom theme here, it works as designed in MATE

1984 is here, we live in a global police state and the enemy has the advantage. In EU you have better protection, in the US you live in a corporate police state. The NSA gets all your stuff, unless your name is Edward Snowden. And if you full-proof your computer, your smart phone will get you. Safeg...

Re: Mate 18.2 panel text white

theme that comes with MATE 18.2 looks very dated, has a 1980s look, so I didn't bother tweaking it. Have you tried my c-6-theme (link above)? You can customize it by editing “metacity-theme-2.xml” I tried today, and it worked and look fine. :D Perhaps you could make an installable .deb package from...

Re: Mate 18.2 panel text white

You can change anything in 17.3 using gnome-color-chooser , but not since 18.2. Also there's no control of background color, so you're stuck with bright white everywhere which hurts the eyes. There is no easy fix short of of creating a new theme, which is what I did: https://forums.linuxmint.com/vi...

Re: Move Windows to external HD

Standard w10 pro disk will not boot from USB, needs SATA connection and laptops don't have external SATA ports. The closest you can get to "external" is by replacing your CDROM with a 2nd hard disk caddy. Depends on what you mean by "standard" and by "disk". I have confirmed, through recent problem...

^^ That's neat because the linux-firmware in 17.3 Synaptic does not include QCA6174

Is https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware.git still updated?

Re: rsync - error when trying to copy over local network

This should be simple. Click on Network, mount the network share by log-in to other PC. Can you see the share files in File Manager?

If so, use simple path in command line, /run/user/1000/gvfs/smb-share:server....
