Re: Programs

Why don't programs work in linux like they do windows? Because Linux is not Windows Where is the C: drive? There is no C: drive in Linux. At least, it's not labeled as C: drive. Root partition would be C: drive I thought linux was supposed to be user friendly? It took me 15 minutes to figure out wh...

Re: Differences between information given in Disks and Gpart

http://www.goodells.net/dellrestore/mediadirect.shtml

There is some info on mediadirect partitions. As for the unallocated space, did you make a ntfs or ext type partition on that space or did you just leave it blank?

Re: Differences between information given in Disks and Gpart

There is no difference in disk size. Gparted calculates disk size based on 1kB=1024B, 1MB=1024kB and 1GB=1024MB, while Disks calculate the size based on 1kB=1000B, 1MB=1000kB and 1GB=1000MB. Gparted calculates the disk size correctly because 1kB=1024B, 1MB=1024kB and 1GB=1024MB in computer world, bu...

Re: three partitions for one Mint?

If you did an automatic install, chances are the empty one is swap partition and the other small one is root partition (I think that's what it's called). You can delete the swap partition, but I wouldn't recommend deleting root.

Re: 4th most widely used operating system in the world?

The way I see it, Microsoft makes Windows and Apple makes Mac OS. Linux operating systems are not made by one company. That is why there are 300+ different versions of Linux operating systems and that is why they are all considered to be different operating systems. If you are going to classify oper...

So why don't they? I mean, I have a strong interest in dating Megan Fox, but that won't be happening for obvious reasons. What is stopping them?

Re: Passwords on a live DVD

I don't think you can infect a live DVD since there is nothing you can actually store on the live DVD itself any more

Re: I really wanted to like it....

I too really wanted to like it and I ended up loving it. My wife hates it, which just makes me love it more. On a serious note; I don't think Linux Mint is not user friendly. I am no expert and it took me 15 minutes to see that I can use Mint when I first booted it from the live DVD. I installed Min...

Re: transparent conky vanishes when clicking on desktop

This is what I got in the code that includes own_window:

Code: Select all

own_window yes
own_window_class Conky
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_type override
own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
After I saved the code like that, it stopped disappearing for me.
