Try replacing own_window_type desktop with own_window_type override

Re: Worst Linux Bug: Error copying files

Fat32 type drives like to do that with big files. If it's a Fat32, try formating it to ntfs.

Re: Application (Writer) window edge is outside screen

Right click on the button in the task bar and chose "Move" option, then move your mouse down and resize when the window comes down.

I installed both 32 and 64 bit versions of Mint 14 MATE and neither had Gparted installed by default.

Re: Resize Mint Partition on Dual Boot System w Windows

I always moved partitons without updating GRUB and never had problems with booting. As far as I can tell, you have to update GRUB only if you delete a system partition and have one less OS installed on your PC.

Oh, okay. I'll just wait until Mint 17 comes out and then install everything from scratch. Thanks for the help! My PC is Windows free now :D

[Solved]Kicking Windows bye-bye and GRUB question

I plan on kicking Windows from my PC and I was wondering if I "uninstall" Windows by deleting its system partition will I still have GRUB on startup or will it go away automatically? Also, if it doesn't go away automatically, how do I disable it from appearing when I turn my PC on?

Re: Preservation of Windows -- why?

I dual boot because of some games my kid plays. I bought him a used PC that should arrive today, so I will be kicking Windows off my PC soon (hopefully by the end of the week).

I found everything I need in Linux

If the resolution is too big, it will show a black screen. Try lowering the resolution

Re: torrent

Find a torrent website, find the torrent you want, click on "download torrent" link, open torrent with Transmission when you are asked and wait for it to finish downloading

Re: Uefi buyers guide - good and bad bioses.

These days everything is made in China. Even things that are not "made" in China are usually just assembled somewhere else from parts that were made in China.

Re: Dual Monitors with panel on the wrong monitor

You have to set the monitor you want as your main monitor to be a primary output. If everything still opens in the "wrong" monitor, open System settings -> Window behavior -> Window behavior -> Focus -> check the box next to "Active screen follows mouse"
