Re: How do I download files from LGIP-340NV phone?

Thanks, but I have no idea what a memory card is, where it goes, or how it works. Btw: Something I've noticed about the computer advice I get: it *always* involves buying something. I guarantee you that if I go get a memory card, the end result will be that it won't work, and I'll have to go buy so...

Re: How do I download files from LGIP-340NV phone?

I'm sure they will tell you the problem is your computer. The reason for that is that they have people working in phone stores that have no clue about PC or phones. Probably some imbecile who was working in a pet store or something before he or she got a job in the phone store. Their knowledge of th...

Re: How do I download files from LGIP-340NV phone?

Unfortunately for you, the problem is not PC related. Your phone is the problem. Or should I say the kind people that made the phone and sold it to people without giving them instructions on how to use it. Based on my experience with various phones, you will not be able to download a picture (or any...

Re: Shortcuts to other partitions

OK, the notepad opened, but i got this in the terminal written MateConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for MateCORBA, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://wiki.mate-desktop.org/docs:mate-conf ...

Re: Shortcuts to other partitions

Odd. I didn't pick you as the type to remove default packages :P I didn't remove any packages. If that's what happened, open the terminal and type in: sudo apt-get install mate-text-editor If it installs, you can now use the previous pluma command. If it's already installed, my best bet is a typo i...

Re: Shortcuts to other partitions

I went and started from the beginning. It worked this time, but now when I type "sudo gedit /etc/fstab" or "sudo pluma /etc/fstab" it says "command not found" Now when I use "sudo mount" command it says "fuse: failed to access mount point: no such file or directory" and when I use "sudo mkdir" comma...

Re: Shortcuts to other partitions

Now when I use "sudo mount" command it says "fuse: failed to access mount point: no such file or directory" and when I use "sudo mkdir" command it says "mkdir: cannot create directory: file exists". Was I supposed to start from the beginning?

Code: Select all

sudo mount /dev/sdb1 -t ext4 /media/sdb1
where sdb1 matches the earlier value. If it's a Windows partition, change ext4 to ntfs. If it's linux, ext4 is likely.
If it won't mount because the device is already mounted, eject it and try again.
How do I eject it?

Re: Shortcuts to other partitions

First, get the name of your partition. You can use either the path (eg. /dev/sdb1) or the UUID. Either one will work. Open a terminal (Accessories > Terminal) and type in: sudo fdisk -l I get this: fdisk: invalid option -- '1' Usage: fdisk [options] <disk> change partition table fdisk [options] -1 ...

[Solved] Shortcuts to other partitions

First of all, I would like to apologize for starting another topic about this. I did see topics about it somewhere on the forum, but I can't find them any more. The problem is simple: if I make a shortcut to a file or a folder on another partition, next time I turn my PC on, the shortcut doesn't wor...

Is the image you are using for the background on another partition? I had the same problem when I tried using an image from another partition.

Hello

Hello! I am a first time Mint user. Actually, I never used anything but Windows. I wanted to try Linux since I believe that Windows isn't worth the money they are asking for it. It wouldn't be worth it even if it was free. Anywho, I did some research and I found Linux Mint. I thought I'd give it a g...
