Re: Access to unstable debian packages

as a final addition, I'd suggest to run a simulation using 'aptitude -s -t sid install <package name>' to ensure that your system won't break if you install that package. don't forget to backup your system since the gap between LMDE and sid is very wide and you can't predict everything :3

Re: Is it safe to use nilarimogard/webupd8 PPA on Mint17?

all ubuntu PPA should be compatible with mint. you only need to make sure that you're using same ubuntu version in your repo list with your mint. for an example, mint 17 is based on ubuntu trusty. you repo list should be deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/evolve-os/ppa/ubuntu trusty main # not deb http://...

Re: Android phone not connecting

I suspect that you're using PTP (camera mode) instead of MTP since you said you only see DCIM and picture folder. there are several report said that the problem fixed by using another usb port/cable.

I'm afraid you need reinstall your system. that article is old and ubuntu/mint now support mtp mount by default and it will conflicted with the method mentioned in that article.

Re: missing pubkey

sources.list is now replaced with /etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list. as for the flash issue, since you're using flashplugin-installer you need update flash via this package. uninstall this package then reinstall it.

Re: Compiling a kernel from kernel.org

instead of using the source code from kernel.org it might be easier to start with the source code in ubuntu. I believe the source code is same with the one on kernel.org. the differences is on the kernel configuration.

Re: Microsoft to release Android development software

Any source for the final feature list of the free edition? I'm quite sure I said 'full version'. if you ask me to show that there's no free full version, ... sure :3 that would be easy. I tried to find a free VS here http://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/download-visual-studio-vs but what I found i...

Re: Microsoft to release Android development software

Now who's the evil company again? :) on this case it's clearly microsoft :3 I don't know how this news will de-devilize microsoft. the released software is Visual Studio 2015 Preview it's not the full version i.e some feature is turned off and you can't use it for real app development until you pay...

Re: .mov files

to summarize, the proposed solution is: 1. install vlc player and use it to play that .mov file 2. convert .mov to more 'open' format. open terminal then type and execute this commands one by one. cd /path/to/file avconv -i <your .mov file name> 1.mp4 this command will copy and convert your .move fi...

"I have a pentium 4 2GHZ and 1.5GB" I assume 1.5 gb is your ram. mint xfce version might suite best for you. it's light, simple, and fully customizable. and...yes. the latest version is 17.1. your described problem only exist on apt v0.9. current apt is v1.0.9.3 and this issue have been fixed long t...

Re: mate and cinnamon all in one. debian

It might look that way to you, but the developers are working on LMDE 2 all the time (not a day has passed I didn't seem them working on it in IRC). From last week's blog post: a matter of word choice as usual. according to the latest official statement LMDE won't get a full system maintenance unti...

Re: hostpad

Do you think libapt-pkg.so.4.12.0 is the main problem? that's what we're trying to find out :3 the chances are: 1. the problem is caused by medibuntu, and/or 2. it's a bug in apt. apparently medibuntu and the syslog bug is two separated problem. we have addressed the first issue and we need to solv...

Re: mate and cinnamon all in one. debian

the server is up but you can't upgrade that system because it will broke. IIRC that was the reason why LMDE got separated cinnamon and mate version in next iso. if you really want to get both cinnamon and mate you can use one of them system installation then proceed to intall the missing DE. current...

Re: Will this bug be ever fixed?

it's not part of security fix and the chances you got this bug fixed on mint is near zero. It's fixed in upstream xorg but the only way you will get that fix is if you grab debian testing. I'm afraid it's up to you to find the xorg package that contains the fix and manually upgrade it on testing. Be...
