Re: What are you most dissatisfied with in Linux Mint?

Also, for LM LXDE, a small gripe that I know won't be fixed (because that would be partially counterproductive): no mintMenu port or equivalency. I sometimes wish I had started with and configured GNOME, because that menu is so great - especially with the integrated apt in 10. I read somewhere in t...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Following up from my last post... I've got things looking much better. Even have transparency working in GTK apps. That's what QtCurve is for anyway. Some GTK apps don't have transparency (Firefox, Chrome) others do (Ekiga, Gimp). In some places the transparency does not blur the stuf behind the win...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

I just saw this new Qtcurve and Aurorae theme uploaded to KDE-look and I just had to try it. But unfortunately, my Intel graphics doesn't seem to have the juice to do it properly. So... to anyone out there with a decent graphics card and running KDE, I'd like to see you try this set up! Widget level...

Re: Shane - a question for you

@ shane - Is that a conky weather you have running at the top right? How do you get those nice colored weather icons? I use the ConkyWeather font for my icons, but they are a bit boring. No, it's not Conky. that is one of the many Plasmoids for the KDE desktop. That one in particular is YAWP... sin...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Oh... Sorry, I'm new to UNIX based systems right now. I hardly know the difference between them all :/ It would be hard to tell the difference between one distro and another just from screenshots in any case. But I am running KDE as you suspected... just on Arch Linux, not Mint. You could easily co...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Hi all,

I've been trying to stick to KDE and Qt apps. I have succeeded for the most part except for the browser... till now. Rekonq is becoming quite a well rounded browser for KDE.

Re: printer driver for hp 6500

So did you try it? Adding a new printer should not be any more difficult than in other distros or OSs.

Re: printer driver for hp 6500

Hi, Well, the link shows that your printer should work perfectly with the hplip drivers and toolbox. As with anything else, the first place you should look when you want to install something is the package manager. Open up Software Manager and search for hplip. It should give you 6 packages. I sugge...

Re: mint-fm2 code enhancements suggestions

If you can implement the what mint-fm2 does with your menu system I would vote for its inclusion over mint-fm2.

I didn't go through it thoroughly... but how does the dpkg trigger create user editable menu files?

Re: Trouble getting into Mint when turning cpu on

The OP PMed me and here is some info I got from him/her. Nearly every time I log on to my cpu it tells me something's wrong, and to press F1 or F2. F2 takes me to the boot menu, and F1 USUALLY takes me to something calling itself Ubuntu and looking exactly like the Terminal function and pops up VIM ...

Re: mint-fm2 code enhancements suggestions

Hi ju1ius! Awesome stuff! Where were you all these years? :P Before I wrote mint-fm2 I asked for help to write this in Python... since I don't know Python. No one stepped up so I wrote it in Bash. (I am not a programmer) Version 2 was really more reinventing of the wheel than v3. It actually went th...

Re: Menus other than Mintmenu on Flux

I do not know how to do what you are trying to do... but if mintmenu works for you, why don't you install mintmenu on the other distros? It is perfectly portable... it even works well in Arch Linux.

Re: Fluxbox lm9 rc volume key not working + unvoluntary log

This is how you configure the keyboard shortcuts in Fluxbox http://fluxbox-wiki.org/index.php/Keyboard_shortcuts

About the logging out, most probably Flash is causing Fluxbox to crash. There are some known issues between the two. Does this happen when there is no Flash?
