Re: two finger scrolling on trackpad does not work

I know of a good application that you can use to manage your trackpad settings, called GPointing. Try it, see if it works :D Here is the APT link apt://gpointing-device-settings. This is a link to its page on the Linux Mint Community website: http://community.linuxmint.com/software/view/g...

Re: help Compaq Presario

Cool, I think you might have the exact same PC that I have :D Is your PC a Compaq Presario C500? Ok, this one I can definitely help with. From what I know, the Ethernet should be working fine. If you have Ethernet, go into the Synaptic Package Manager and install the following packages: b43-fwcutter...

Re: Help! Linuxmint 16 installer can not see my partition

I was just helping a man who had a Lenovo L540 with a 1TeraByte HDD like yours. The Linux 16 installer did not recognise his Windows installation either, and he said that when he tried Manjaro Linux, it did not recognise it either. He eventually tried installing Linux Mint, and it ended up wiping hi...

Re: Problem with Realtek RTL8101E/RTL8102E installation.

Wow, Bleachbit must have really rotten the Mint here... :? Can you remember what options you had set for Bleachbit to clean before losing your Ethernet? That would probably give more information to possibly go deeper into this issue... I wish I had more I could use to help you with, but the only ide...

Re: Petra KDE not recognizing win 7 install

Were you able to back up all that was on your Windows installation? I hope so... I have a second idea about how Linux couldn't recognise your Windows installation. Maybe your Windows partiton was in a format that Mint can't detect, like how Windows can't detect Ext2 file systems without the ...

Re: Can't install ethernet driver in Mint 16 KDE :-(

You do know that generally, when needing help on a topic like this, you are to use informative titles - this one isn't very informative. Excerpt from Forum Guidelines: Use a title that is specific. Do not use titles such as, "HELP ME!!!" or "linuxmint fails". Instead, make titles that define the pro...

Re: Petra KDE not recognizing win 7 install

I think I had a similar problem when installing Linux Mint at first. I did this to install Linux Mint KDE alongside Windows: I left the Windows partition alone, no other partitions (except recovery or OEM paritions, etc.), just free, unallocated space. Then the installer on the LiveCD gave me the op...

Re: Petra KDE not recognizing win 7 install

I'm a bit confused here -

You're saying that Linux Mint doesn't recognise your Windows partiton, and that you can't install Linux Mint alongside Windows 7 because it doesn't detect your Windows 7 installation, right?

Re: KDE-Plasma shell keeps crashing

Bumping is not very helpful. If you don't have anything important to say, don't say it. I don't know where I've heard that before... Well, I don't necessarily know what is making Plasma crash on your end, you could stop using it, but you shouldn't remove it. I am not sure if this widget is any diffe...

Re: How to enable guest acc & auto screenlock?

Well, you can create a Guest account in the User Manager program in System Settings. There isn't one by default (at least I don't see one), but at least you can make one :D For the automatic screen lock, you can go into Display and Monitor in System Settings. Go to the Screen Locker Tab, and there s...

Re: Are these Mint, KDE or kernel issues?

I'm assuming that those issues have to do with the kernel - the drivers for USB Ports, Wireless, and Ethernet are in the kernel. Also, make sure that you are running the right version for your computer (32bit or 64bit). For the battery notification, by default it disappears into the drop-up in the S...

There should be a button that looks like this when mousing over or clicking the shortcut:

You should be able to move the mouse left and right to resize the icon!
