Screen tearing in videos, Nvidia
I have a GTX 650Ti that I´m very satisfied with, all games I have works great with it. The only problem I´m experiencing is screen tearing when playing videos. I´ve tried several different video players, but the tearing is the same in all of them. Youtube videos works fine though. I´ve tried differe...

Re: Few questions about PC gaming on linux (New starter)
1 x MSI HD 7790 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card I would have picked a Nvidia card instead. For the rest it looks quite okay, a bit low budget maybe, but you should be able to play most games, although not on the highest settings, but it has to do a lot with the GPU. Make sure to get a goo...

Re: will a GT610 work well under linux mint?
I´ve used Geforce GT 210 and atleast XFCE and Mate runs smooth on it. Also some Steam games too. My current desktop has a GTX 650Ti, that of course got a lot better performance then the GT 210. When buying a GPU it´s all about performance VS price, so if you got the money, I´d say go for a bit more ...

Re: Grand Theft Auto GTA: 5 on Linux Mint 15
There´s already a petition for this: http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/rockstar-games-release-games-for-linux It would be nice if they released it. I would also love to see Vice City and San Andreas being ported to Linux, I get a bit nostalgic when I think about how I used to play tho...

Re: Mintbox as a Steambox?
Well, except for the GPU the performance is quite good, maybe not for the basic, but for the PRO and 2 version. The fact that all the versions has an Intel HD graphics makes it a bad choice though. I have a Intel HD 4000, and the normal desktop performance is good, but when it comes to gaming, it´s ...

Re: 100+ titles in Steam already :-)
I´m not trying to be pessimistic here, but there aren´t 300 games, a lot of the "games" on that list are DLC.Booman wrote:did anyone notice the Steam games are up to 300?
But we´ll get to 300 sooner or later.

Nice one and a good job!
I prefer playing native Linux games though, but if I´d ever want to install a Windows game I´ll definitely check your site.

Re: Gaming in Linux Mint!
my steam immediately closes when trying to browse the store. but the game browser is ok? i seem to have had most of the bug / issues :( i guess thats what you get by running an amd card and xfce rather than ubuntu and an nvidia or intel gpu though. Most of the desura games advertised for linux dont...

Re: Steam doesn´t work anymore
Thanks for your reply, I didn´t think anyone would reply, and I´m very impatient. I installed a lot of different DE´s, tried LM 15 with MATE and Cinnamon, but Steam just froze and would not work. :? Right now I´m on Ubuntu Gnome, I don´t like it, but everything works. I´ll probably reinstall LM 15 w...

Steam doesn´t work anymore
Not sure if this one should be here or in the gaming section, but anyway. I´ve been running Steam for a few months now, and I´ve never had any problems before, but now it won´t start anymore. I haven´t done anything particular, maybe updated, but that´s all. When trying to start Steam from the termi...

Re: Gaming on Linux Mint 15 through Steam, your experiences
Crusader kings 2 works for me, my specs is in my signature.
I haven´t had any problem with other Steam games, and I got like 15 of em. Exept for Oil Rush, but it´s because of my Intel GPU.

Can´t install propritery drivers anymore
I´ve just installed LM 15 with Mate and I can´t install the propritery drivers for my Intel HD4000 anymore. Not really sure what methods there are, but in LM 14 I just entered "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers" in the terminal, then updated and rebooted and it just worked...

I would recommend Steam, but there is also Azura and a lot of native Linux games. I´m not sure which website that´s best for finding out about Linux games, but if you google you will find several of them.

Re: Linux Mint DE Mate vs Cinnamon for gaming on Steam
I get this black box too, it is not something that happens only on Cinammon, I am running Mate. I guess it depends on the hardware. I am using a Inspiron 7520 AMD Radeon HD 7730 m and when I get out of any game wether it is a native one (or ported) or even wine (Playonlinux) I still have it. but th...

Re: Linux Mint DE Mate vs Cinnamon for gaming on Steam
I´ve tried Mate, Cinnamon, KDE and XFCE for gaming on Linux mint. There should not be any difference, but for me there are. For instance, in Cinnamon I got this black "box" in the upper left corner on the screen sometimes after gaming.
For me Mate and XFCE are those DE´s that works best.

Oh sorry I thought so. But well, I still feel a bit guilty for buying all those games for a really small amount. Unfortunately I´m like most people, greedy.Jamesc359 wrote:Please don't take offense at my comments. They were in no way directed at you.

Re: 100+ titles in Steam already :-)
Wow, that's kind of harsh. Most of these games sell for $2.5-$5 on sale, I'm left wondering what do you expect for $5? Well I agree it´s not a lot of money, but it´s better then nothing. I have a quite limited budget, so if the games we´re more expensive, I would have bought less. And it isn´t all ...
