Re: Software sources

Dude, sounds like you messed up your system. :( I think the best option, if that is an option for you, is to reinstall. If not, you could try this: cd /etc/apt/sources/list.d sudo mv additional-repositories.list additional-repositories.list.bakup sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install mint-meta-ci...

Re: newbie to Linux, want to install newest SeaMonkey

I have just installed and updated Linux Mint 14 Nadia. I would like to have the newest version of SeaMonkey, but when I followed instructions here: http://linuxg.net/how-to-install-seamonkey-2-19-on-ubuntu-13-0412-1012-04-and-linux-mint-151413/ I wound up with V.2.17.1 and I know there are newer ve...

Maybe remove the question mark from that file? Or post the contents of that file here.

Re: Hidden doors on the backside of the house?

I was hoping for something more specific regarding procedures, but anyhow, I have an overview so far and there is also other interesting and useful info with what you provided. Bottom line is: any Linux distro is built by enthusiasts / hobbyists in their spare time. They are people that like to pla...

Have you tried the Startup Application Preferences? You can find it in your menu, or just run

Code: Select all

gnome-session-properties

Re: Parental control similar to K9 or gnomenanny

For the adult stuff, I found this to be pretty decent: http://www.opendns.com/parental-controls

For the time stuff, I imagine you could use gnomenanny, but you could just as easily write up a cron job to

Code: Select all

ifconfig <interface> down
during certain times?

Re: Dual Boot MINT15 and Win 8 each on separate HDDs

I think you misunderstood what a bootloader does/is. Have a read through here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bootloader#Second-stage_boot_loader I unplugged MINT when I installed Win8 to keep each Bootloader on it`s own drive (or so I thought). Your computer now has two bootloaders, each of which can...

Re: How can I install mate-text-editor-plugins in Pluma?

From just briefly scanning the available information from the link you posted, it appears as though you have to rebuild pluma from source. You will probably have to download the pluma source, and combine the plugins source into it. Then rebuild everything.
