Re: Home Printer/Scanner and old laptop

It's common for replacement ink cartridges to nearly equal the price of a new printer. It's also common for cheap refilled cartridges to be rejected by the printer as incompatible unless the chips are well matched . I see that as an informal way for the company to break the spirit of the consumer:c...

Have you tried FBReader for your .EPUB files? There's also an "Android" version, if you want continuity(?).

So if there's no solution I'll just avoid PlutoTV.
If you use or are willing to try Chrome, you can try installing "Pluto TV - It’s Free TV!" via the Chrome store... thing.

Re: ACORN TV Recommendations

I enjoyed Faulty Towers as a child, and so did my mother (who was a few years younger than I am now). I still smile when I think about the absolute non-PC aspects of it, and think about what would happen if someone tried to create such a show in the USA today. BtW, is this Acorn TV free/ad-supported...

Some description of how you installed it (other than by having "done some googling" ) may be helpful in getting help with troubleshooting.

Re: Qgis 3.2 Disappeared and won't be reinstalled

I just did a search for "qgus ppa." From the search results I got, it appears that there is at least one such PPA. Have you tried installing from one of them, assuming you can find one which supports the version of Ubuntu that your version of Mint is built on? My guess is that others using that vers...

If used wisely ... ... than the software wrecking ball does not get used (not even installed) at all. It's not the same. Bleachbit does housekeeping, yes - but it is also (to put it bluntly) a tool for the paranoid. For example: E. g. the browser cache can get cleaned with the browser itself, even ...

Holiday labor schedule? Be more concerned if you don't see a single update during the second full week of January, I suppose. If mintUpdate still functions like it used to, try adjusting your options so as to display ALL updates (including levels 4 and 5). That doesn't guarantee that you'll see an u...

You can try a penetrating oil such as WD-40 WD-40 is not a penetrating oil. It's just a water-displacement product that people sometimes use as a (poor) penetrating oil. The best penetrating oil that I have ever used - or even seen tests of - is an equal mixture of automatic transmission fluid and ...

Is there a separate option regarding what to do after a power failure? perhaps we are not talking about the same thing because my tabs need scrolling if they are many. They would in any web browser (or anything else that uses tabs in this way). Otherwise, you'd eventually reach a point where it was impossible (or at least nearly so) to target a specific one with your ...

The browser? Not very. But some of the scripts that people allow their browser to run on their computer... probably not surprising. Install/run a script-blocker and see if the problem goes away (and your security improves exponentially).

In that hypothetical situation, wouldn't the very first thing you'd naturally advise, as part of the support process be, "Update to Mint 19 Cinnamon.12-04-18 (and counting)," so as to be sure that the person asking for help had the current versions of everything? Probably solve 86.3% of all issues r...
