What's Wrong with Avidemux?

I have a logitech C310 webcam that I used to just plug in and use with guvcview without any problems. I'd open the vid in avidemux to trim or whatever I needed to do, and then reencode it to an mpg or avi. Simple, easy, and never any problems. Not sure exactly when it started, but now when I load vi...

Re: Turn Off Update Manager Authentication

Thanks Mute, I'll use a keyring, then. richyrich makes a good point that it's probably better not to disable pw for updates.

Turn Off Update Manager Authentication

How can I turn off the password requirement for update manager? I'm the only one who uses my PC, and I want to be able to bypass that. Thanks!

Re: Suspend not working on Dell 1525 LM17 Cinnamon

Same issue here. Upgrading to 3.13.0-35 or any of the kernels in the update manager failed to fix the issue. Is there any easy way to downgrade to an earlier kernel than in the update manager list?

Suspend Stopped Working On Laptop

Suspend suddenly stopped working on my Lenovo Z570 running Mint 17. It was working fine ever since I installed Mint, but now neither the Fn keys or pm-suspend work. The screen just goes to the "time" screensaver mode, and doesn't suspend. Anyone know what the issue could be? A recent Mint upgrade br...

Re: No Sound Applet in Panel

Okay, I solved my problem. It was in fact a pulseaudio corruption. Deleting the ~/.pulse directory and restarting fixed it. Doesn't seem to be much support available on this board, but I'll try to help you if I can, sportsfan. Can you give some more details, like what exactly happened, whether sound...

No Sound Applet in Panel

Anyone else suddenly having a problem with the sound app in cinnamon? Not really sure what happened, but after updating a few things, I changed my desktop background and my PC locked up. I had to hard reboot it, and since then I can't get the sound applet to show up in the panel. The applet settings...

Re: Awesome font icons not displaying properly

Can't believe with a basically stock version of Mint and firefox (happens in -safe-mode) I'm the only one with this problem?? I installed fonts-font-awesome to get the icons that are showing up now, even if they are the wrong ones. Before that, firefox was just displaying those square boxes with the...

Awesome font icons not displaying properly

The awesome fonts that I guess more and more website developers are using for icons aren't displaying right for me in firefox in a number of sites. On twitter for example, where the twitter icon is supposed to be there's an Apple icon. Home, messages, etc. are all different icons than what they're s...

Radeon 5450 Issues with Qiana

My nVidia video card just died, so I replaced with a cheap radeon card to hold me over before building my new system this fall. The new card is a: PowerColor Go! Green AX5450 1GBK3-SH Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card, which you can se...

Re: Trouble accessing websites

Yes, gtsfr, you're completely right - it's only ONE particular website! (stocktwits.com) I thought it was misconfigured on their end, maybe causing delays in loading that were leading to a time out on my wireless connection, but they gave up looking into it after they learned I use Linux, lol. I've ...

Can't Access Sites on Laptop

stocktwits.com never loads on my laptop but works fine from mint desktop. I have google DNS servers in resolv.conf on both computers, and I also just insalled and configured dnsmasq on both, but it didn't help. I also flushed the laptop DNS cache with nscd and even rebooted with no effect. The probl...

localhost in resolv.conf

Mint keeps adding localhost to my /etc/resolv.conf, which seems to be interfering with loading some websites. How do I stop this behavior? Localhost isn't in the /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail file, only my DNS servers, which are the Google servers atm. I can't figure out how to make it stop add...
