Re: SD Disk location

dmesg should show it, then you'll probably have to mount it if it's not in /media somewhere.

Re: Folder sharing with nemo

Right-click on the folder -> Sharing Options works for me in Nemo. If you're going to share between two separate machines, you need NFS, tho.

Re: Weird bugs after installing with an existing /home parti

Is there anything in the /home/Desktop folder? E.g., a symlink?

Re: Strange mozilla window wont close.

xkilling it might work, or check ps ax to see if you can find what it is and kill it.

Maybe you could see if this user found a solution:

Perhaps it's some buggy extension you've both installed?

Re: how many ip-addresses do I have?

The 75.xx.xx.xx is your internet (or WAN) address, assigned by your ISP. The other address (inet 192.168.1.2) is your local LAN address.

Ok, redid the keys, used the -i option, and now it works. Consider this case closed!

Re: Cups printing problem.

I would try removing the printer from the cups interface and then adding it back again. Are you sure the correct drivers are loaded?

(Btw, don't forget to log the user out and back in after making changes to group file.)

Re: Mint 15 GUI to control services

The services GUI in the control panel weirdly doesn't seem to have most of the services. You can implement them all from /etc/init.d/ though, with the {start|stop|restart, etc.} commands. edit: Just found this, too: sysv-rc-conf, which looks pretty cool. Just apt-get install it and start it up in a t...

Re: Crontab not working with scp

Oops, my mistake in the original post. The actual crontab entry is "scpp," which I have as an alias for 'scp -P xxxx' (capital P). I just typed it wrong in the OP, thinking of the ssh option (which makes it totally stupid that scp uses -P). Just a thought: do you mean a shell alias or another comma...

Re: Cups printing problem.

So... are you in the lpadmin group? :?: You could also try adding "root" and "sys" to the SystemGroup line, but I think the place for it now is in the /etc/cups/cups-files.conf file, at least on Mint, not sure about Ubuntu. The error is saying "Unknown directive" because SystemGroup has been removed...

Re: Crontab not working with scp

- P port Specifies the port to connect to on the remote host. Note that this option is written with a cap- ital 'P', because -p is already reserved for preserving the times and modes of the file in rcp(1). -p Preserves modification times, access times, and modes from the original file. I don't know...

Re: Cups printing problem.

If you haven't done it already, you need to add the IPs of the computer(s) you want to be able to access the printer to the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file. E.g.: # Restrict access to the server... <Location /> Order allow, deny Allow 192.168.0.101 Allow 192.168.0.102 Allow 192.168.0.103 Allow 192.168.0.10...

Re: Crontab not working?

Hmm, well, it's in the user's crontab, and I also put it in the root crontab with the user field. It fails both times. I made a crontab test entry to mv a file, and that worked fine, so apparently cron is having some problem with scp or that particular command. Still trying to figure out what could ...

[Solved] Crontab not working with scp

Can anyone see what might be wrong with this crontab entry? I'm intending to transfer my master keepass database file to my laptop every night, but it's not working. ssh is set up for password-free login with key, which works.

Code: Select all

12 21 * * * scp -P 1234 jeff@homer:~/.keepassx-db.kdb /home/jeff/

Re: how do i set a password/log on to terminal?

Not really sure what you're asking, but if you're having that much trouble, you should just stick to sudo.

Code: Select all

$ sudo <command>
[sudo] password for <user>:
then just type your user password after the colon.

Re: USB External DAC for Sound

To load and activate it, you'd do sudo modprobe snd_usb_audio . If you want it to load automatically at boot, you'd add the snd_usb_audio part to the /etc/modules file. How do I add this to the /etc/modules file? What should I type in terminal, I mean? Or can I navigate to this file and edit...
