Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Hi,

Is there a way to have mintUpdate work the the same way as in Gnome 2 and Cinnamon
under Gnome Shell? When you hover over it in the notification area it says "mintUpdate.py" while it in Cinnamon says "Your system is up to date"?

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Hi,

Just installed the latest iteration of UP4 (another 450 packages or so). My system is still working well. I was hoping for more Mint look and feel in Gnome Shell, but it's still looking very generic. I guess Cinnamon is getting all the love? :)

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Hi, I just discovered a serious bug in Brasero after updating to UP4: When I burn a DVD directly, without writing image to disk first, the DVD won't mount and can't be read. The burn completes without errors, but the DVD is useless. If I set it to write image to disk first the DVD mounts and can be ...

Re: Desktop environment(s) in LMDE beyond UP4

My personal opinion is that Clem will concentrate on Cinnamon at the expense of Gnome-Shell, but only time will tell. That needn't necessarily be all bad though because gnome-shell is really what you personally make it and your friend there is https://extensions.gnome.org/?page=1 rather than Clem. ...

Desktop environment(s) in LMDE beyond UP4

Hi, With UP4 LMDE will have Gnome Shell available. In addition there's Cinnamon for those who do not like Gnome Shell. Personally I like Gnome Shell a lot and have been waiting patiently for UP4 instead of jumping to a Gnome Shell based distro or point directly to Debian. I now wonder how much effor...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

bluez 4.98-3 is in testing (no need to pull pkgs from sid, it's not very advisable to mix debian releases this way if you want to preserve your system stability) http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/bluez I've been around Linux for fifteen year, so I know it's not advisable but I found myself without ...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

HI, All, The critical problem for me is that I cannot set my bluetooth speaker as an output device of my sound setting. The speaker is paired with my computer and successfully connected, but it is not identified as an output device while I try to configure it. I tried to reinstall pulseaudio-module...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

After update support for my (Bose) bluetooth speakers stopped working. The speaker is detected, pairs and connects, but nothing is showing up in the sound preferences so I can't select the speaker as output. [SOLVED] After some digging around I found that the problem is a bug in bluez-4.98-2. I went...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Hi, Gnome Shell seems stable and quick on my machines after having been running for a couple of days on each. As soon as I got the xorg updates installed the flickering during login disappeared, but I still think it takes longer for any DE to come up than it did before the upgrade. Seems like it may...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Hi, The update was uneventful and Cinnamon came up without problems. The login screen backdrop is not scaled to the screen and there's a lot of flickering before Cinnamon loads. My two problems are: ..that I can not see the icons for network, bluetooth and volume. They all work when I click on them,...

Re: No updates?

I do not run Gnome, so I do not worry about the Gnome 3 situation. But I would like updates to several other applications I use. I choose a rolling release distro because I cook up my own DE and it takes time setting it all back up after a resintall. What I would like to see is some kind of road map...

Re: No updates?

latest/incoming are working (this might look odd, but it's true) if we look at the rationale behind their creation this is the way they were supposed to "shield" the users that choose to stay within the UP system; the buffer today is huge but the first rule was/is stability (never releasing a broke...

Hibernation problem and the LMDE kernel.

Hi, I could not get my Asus laptop to return from hibernation. It simply booted normally when I woke it up instead of loading the hibernation image. I tired all kinds of fixes found in these forums and elsewhere, but no go. Then I tried to install the latest liquorix kernel and hibernation works! Is...

Going back to the nvidia driver in the repos.

Hi, I friend of mine installed the nvidia driver using the nvidiia installer included with the driver when downloaded from nvidia. It works, but he wants to go back to the driver in the repos. I'm supposedly more versed in Linux than he is, but I do not know how to do this. I am afraid that if I uni...

Wrong mixer opens for sound preferences.

Hi, Today when I right click on the volume control icon in the notification area (where network, volume, battery etc. is controlled) and select "Sound Preferences" I get "gnome-volume-control.gstreamer" opened instead of "gnome-volume-control.pulse" as it used to be. Also, when I click on "Sound" in...

Well, using wicd is a workaround. I would prefer using Network-Manager since it's still being developed while wicd doesn't seem to be in development anymore (according to the IRC channel topic).

Network-Manager repeated disconnects from wireless.

Hi, I have fully updated (latest repo) LMDE on two laptops and a desktop computer. The laptops have Intel wireless cards while the desktop computer has a D-Link wireless card. They all connect to my U-verse router (2wire). Common for all is that they disconnect from the wireless networks approximate...

Hi, I've run the latest Liquorix 3 kernel for a while. The only problem I have is that Update Manager won't auto start. I have to start it manually after I have logged in. I was wondering if this is a general kernel 3 problem, or Liquorix. Question for those of you who has played around with the De...
