Re: GRUB installation problem?

I just think that the latest kernel used by intrepid has different "prioritizing" and makes it sdc instead of sda. Does this make any se...

GRUB installation problem?

Hey all, I've made a fresh install of kubuntu 8.10 to play around in KDE4 goodness, but I have a problem with GRUB not showing up after installation - just the missing operating system message... no GRUB at all. The installation went fine, the live cd checks out as well as md5. I've later installed ...

A little ad on my hospital web site

Hi all, just wanted to let you know that as the webmaster of my hospital (University Hospital Merkur, Zagreb, Croatia) I've mentioned Linux mint on the impressum (the site is in Croatian): http://www.kb-merkur.hr/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=90&Itemid=83 That is the list of some of t...

Re: Suspend network restart

I'm running it from an icon so it needs a gui interface to ask me for root pass... at least I think my reasoning is correct

Suspend network restart

Hi all, I've noticed that whenever I use suspend on my computers and return from suspend my networking stops working... I wrote myself a small script consisting of gksudo /etc/init.d/networking restart and start it manually whenever I return from suspend... and than networking starts working again.....

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa KDE CE RC1 (BETA 045) is out!

oh.. and the tray icons not appearing I solved with making a small script to run compiz with a 15sec delay and entering that script in autostart ... works like a charm now :)

video still an issue though

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa KDE CE RC1 (BETA 045) is out!

I've noticed that if I run compiz, my video playback doesnt work (kaffeine / vlc) - I only get a black/grayish screen with no sound... turning off compiz instantly restores functionality... Also.. if I autorun (.kde/Autostart) compiz using the same command that the menu entry uses, I get a screwed u...

I'd suggest you post to the appropriate forums with your problems...

this is sort of just a informal bugtracking and thank-you list...

personally, I always use manual partitioning and it went well for me, no problems at all.

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa KDE CE RC1 (BETA 045) is out!

Just wanted to add that this is another great release... good work boo!!! Another thing I forgot to mention is that my bootup screen is too small for the screen, my normal resolution is 1680x1050 and im assuming thats what usplash uses but it only takes up about 3/4 of the screen leaving a black one...

Here is what I found @ http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-LaserJet_1010 Edited Notes For basic printing functionality use the HPIJS driver . For advanced functionality such as printer status and maintenance features, use the HPLIP driver (which includes HPIJS). With hpijs 0.9.x HP in...

Re: HP LaserJet 1010 Unsupported Personaility: PCL error

Well.. I don't think this will have any impact... since I can't setup a shared printer this way.... :/

Trying with the non simplyfied driver (the one that is not recommended in the regular install)...

Re: Problems with folder links on fstab mounted partitions

Is it perhaps possible to make some kind of a partition-2-partition mount to mimic the effect of the directory simlink?
