Re: Problems with folder links on fstab mounted partitions

ahem... maybe I shold've been clearer

I have mounted a partition... on this partition there are links which are not accessible on the client machine

BUT only if the partition is mounted via fstab - if I access the shared folder via a smb:/xxxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/shared than everything works fine.

Re: Problems with folder links on fstab mounted partitions

Haven't seen you in a while NiksaVel... hehe... I'm still around.. but much to busy with day-to-day jobs to hang around as much... What is really bugging me here is that I can access the share manually and everything works fine... it's the same principle so why doesn't it work with fstab mounting.....

Re: Problems with folder links on fstab mounted partitions

Konqueror correctly indentifies the files as simlinks... but they dont point anywhere - I believe they are pointing to the same place that they're pointing on the server comp, but that place does not exist on the client... :/ i.e. /media/sda1/tools

Problems with folder links on fstab mounted partitions

Hi, I've recently upgraded my "server" with an additional disk and reorganised some directories in the "shared directory" so that they are actually shortcuts to the folders on the new large hdd... The problem that arose is that on my "client" computers who automount the "shared" directory via fstab ...

How about support for Debian?

Hey guys, I was wondering if it might be possible to have mintInstall install on pure Debian? I really like the sheer speed of Debian, but I miss all the nifty little stuff I get with mint... still it might be worthwhile to configure a debian install on some of my really older hardware to get a perf...

Re: Some subjective distros review in comparison to mint

Ohh, you should try more or something, I'll check it out with my CD. However, if my memory serves me correctly, the DVD version is Powerpack = $$$. I reacted as well, my locales wasn't listed either, Norway, but I found them in a list below the main one... yes, I know there's an expended list with ...

Re: Some subjective distros review in comparison to mint

... and I guess language files are the first to be dropped to save space... no, that's not it... I wasn't trying to install a croatian language... I chose english as my OS language, as I always do, but when it asked me which country I lived in, my country wasn't listed for some reason... and there ...

Re: Some subjective distros review in comparison to mint

it does seem you are commenting more on the graphics or first impression upon installing or using a live CD... rather than review the distro itself. so heres my subjective opinion yes, that's absolutely true... :) and it is completely intentional! As I believe I've already mentioned, these are all ...

Some subjective distros review in comparison to mint

Hey guys, I am now a 3 year Linux enthusiast... and I must say that I have become completely Linux devoted and am spreading the good news around here in Croatia (which is btw approx. 99,5% M$ controled). I have already made some 5-10 converts... most of them to mint :) My experience with the various...

Re: CUPS print to pdf not working

yes, but the "pseudo-printer" print to file that you've mentioned here is KDE specific - i.e. it will not show up as an option in non-KDE apps, like i.e. firefox...

I can also confirm that cups-pdf is working properly in the gnome release.

Re: CUPS print to pdf not working

same problem here... it just isn't working no matter what I try to do...

first of all, you should change the driver for the printer from raw to generic/postscript... than it will stop trying to hold back jobs, but still nothing gets generated ... ???? help :)

xCHM

I'd strongly urge that we include xCHM in the standard package... it is a very small simple program for reading CHM files.. by default mint can not open such files (ebooks mostly)...
