GNOME 3.14 - second thoughts

Yesterday, after weeks of playing with KDE 4.14.2 , I tried GNOME 3.14.1 (still using Debian Jessie). Short background: I'm not a fan of mobile interfaces or anything which is created for tablets in mind when we talk about PC's! My original opinion about GNOME was - it *sucks*. But how about the lat...

Re: Giving the gift of Linux?

I have some unused DVD's like LM 16 Cinnamon or Zorin OS 8. The problem is - I don't know which of my friends can find this useful...

Merry Christmas, everyone! :)

Re: Prefered Mint Base

The current plans are good enough but if you ask me - Mint on Debian Stable base (only) is the best option for the future. The Canonical decisions are not the smartest and everyone know this.

Re: Final trip to Mageia

It's a shame but after a few dependency hell situations I left the Mageia ship! :D There is nothing like Synaptic and it's functions! RPM distros are EVIL! Anyway what I did after that: Installed Debian with the testing branch, installed the latest KDE and stuff and now I'm a happy Debian ...

Final trip to Debian

The title explain the situation very well: I installed Mageia and I'm loving it! :) I never though that KDE can be so fast and so beautiful if you have a few spare hours to customize it. A little problem was the bloat but all in all Mageia runs so good on my stone age PC. I just can't explain how ex...

Re: Lightweight distro for Acer Aspire One?

Change the repos from "archive" to "old-releases" and you will receive the Helena updates. But I would install LM Maya XFCE or Linux LXLE, or even Puppy. It's your choice. :)

Re: Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon RC released!

I ask this question almost always but can you feel difference in perfomance (Cinnamon 2.2 vs Cinnamon 2.4)? The change log looks awesome and I'm hoping this memory leaks (which are fixed) to improve the perfomance of LM 17.1 further. :)

Re: Computer related jokes

The following jokes are a little bit agressive towards Windows: :D

Error 15 - Unable to exit Windows. Try the door.

Windows Error: 004 - Operator fell asleep while waiting.

Windows is *NOT* a virus. Viruses *DO* something!

Re: Monthly News: September 2014

By looking at the stats clearly I can say that for the moment the donations for Mint are way bigger than they were in 2012/2013! If the donations for 2014 continue like that we can have a all times record this year. :)

Re: Which do you prefer: Cinnamon or XFCE?

Wish I'd seen this topic earlier. Might have saved me some hardware upgrading trying to get cinnamon to work as well as xp did on an ancient p4 machine with unsupported radeon-AGP etc . Question: So now I've rebuilt to a modern (still budget) amd quad core APU system that I got LM17-cinnamon to wor...

The old Mint releases are gone?

I noticed that when I click on "All versions" only Mint 13, Mint 17 and Debian are presented. This is not a bad idea and it will be less confusing for new users when they download Mint so...good job there. :)
