Re: Which Mint and why ?

Hi ... Thanks for responding . Are you guys saying to use 13 instead of the latest 14? Whats the difference between Mate over Cinnamon ? Another thing if it matter I'm using a laptop . Thanks 13 will be supported longer than 14 (5 years, IIRC), so it'll be longer before it's obsolete. MATE and Cinn...

Re: Will Linux Mint work on my old computer?

I think you can. Linux Mint 14 MATE should work (512MB RAM minimum). If not you can try Puppy Linux which can be runned with 64MB RAM and it's pretty good.

Too many startup programs?

Maybe it's just me but I think that I have too many startup programs. Can you tell me which are the most important (I think they are 3-5)? The others will be started manually if needed.

Google Earth without text boxes (SOLVED)

Strange but Google Earth is working perfectly....without any fonts. I haven't got the nations names, every menu name. I have just blank spaces. What is this problem?

I have Bulgarian language in my Mint 14 (if this is the case). Usually Google Earth can support it.

Re: Migrating to Mint, how to remove Winows?

The best way to upgrade is to move your /home directory's content to another partition. That way you can overwrite your system, but keep your application settings, user data, etc. How I can do partition in Linux then? By the way back in Windows I had had 2 partitions C and D but they both disappear...

Re: How to Try different Verisons

They won't perform as quickly as an actual install They're also highly likely not to look as good either. Or even work normally. It is possible to have system crashes or such things in VB. 1. Yes, but that's a matter of opinion. You won't miss out on anything vital by not enabling them. 2. You can: -right click on the desktop and select "Create Launcher", then enter the application name in the command field -find the application's executable file on your system, then right click on i...

Re: Migrating to Mint, how to remove Winows?

Just say you were going to wipe the drive with something like 'g-parted' live cd. Then do a clean install of mint. You would have to know, what is the best allocation of drive space for your MINT and is it safe to wipe every partition on your computer. Excuse me but I want more complete answer and ...
