PS. You could removeubuntu-release-upgrader-gtkas well, if you want, since it manages release upgrades for Ubuntu, hence not needed in Mint.
I couldn't find ubuntu-release-upgrader-gtk in Synaptic. By any chance, did you mean ubuntu-release-upgrader-core?

Re: 'Software Updater'?

update-manager: Installed: 1:16.04.13 Candidate: 1:16.04.13 You would need only "mintupdate" to update your Mint system. You have somehow managed to install an extra update manager (the one for Ubuntu). You can remove it by: sudo apt-get remove --purge update-manager That should take care of it. Fr...

Re: [SOLVED] Paste file path & name in Xed's 'Open...' dialog -- How?

I prefer to have a button like in Mint 17. Button.png Your screen shot shows a Emplacement (Location) line. If you have that, why would you need another button? I prefer a standard open dialog text box with browse button, thus: [_________________________________][...] PS, Clarification: The text bo...

'click' --> 'double-click' & 'hover' --> 'click'

Is there a generic, global setting that will turn what now requires 'click' into requiring 'double-click' and what now requires 'hover' into requiring 'click'? ...I have tried to find such a setting for months, ...years. Individual apps often have no such individual settings. Thanks! PS: Is ...

Re: mintupdate 5.1.0.5

Update. I just watched the "Release Notes for Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon" videos. I am NEVER going to upgrade to Mint 18.3 because it involves (or may involve) screwing around with 'grub'. I have trashed more disks with 'grub' than you can shake a stick at. That's really funny because I have edited pa...

Re: mintupdate 5.1.0.5

Help! I did as Cosmo recommended. 1 - I upgraded to 'VBox Version 5.2.8 r121009 (Qt5.6.2)' (and I installed 'Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.2.8.vbox-extpack' while I was at it). 2 - Then I mounted 'VBoxGuestAdditions.iso' -- gratefully, mounting was automatic -- and ran the '/media/mark/VBox...

Re: mintupdate 5.1.0.5

Hi Cosmo. Thank you for all the help you give to me and other folks! Okay, first, to clear the air. Re: mintupdate 5.1.0.5

Thanks all, but I'm still unsure/confused... As my sig-line says: "Windows 10 {VirtualBox {Linux Mint 18 {Cinnamon Desktop} } }". mintupdate 5.1.0.5

The changelog for this update is one line: "* Packaging: Break virtualbox-guest pkgs". I need some details. I've had no problems without this update, so I have to ask the questions: Is this update meant to "break" virtualbox-guest packages? -- whatever that means to the maintainer. Or does this upda...

My desktop icons: trash & mounted drives, disappear when I double-click a desktop URL-link. Rebooting restores them. What's happening? Searching the Internet did not bring joy.
