Re: Unable to install 17.3 after trying 18.3

I tried it twice on two different usb sticks. I noticed that it wants to install grub on /dev/sda, but sda is not the main drive where I want linux to be installed. The target is an M2 SSD, while it mounts an encrypted HDD as sda. Maybe thats he reason. I will try it again with the HDD detached from...

Unable to install 17.3 after trying 18.3

Hello, I mentioned my boot problems with 18.3 in another thread. After I had them, I wanted to go back to 17.3. But now the installer always crashed when it tries to install grub. It just says something like "installer crashed". I do not understand this. I had 17.3 running before I switched to 18.3....

18.3 - Unable to decrypt at boot

Hello, I installed 18.3 yesterday and noticed something really bad. When I install mint, I like to use the encryption tool that the installer provides. It will then encrypt the drive using LVM. When you boot, you are immediatly asked for a password. And here is the problem. I can not enter it. If I ...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using kvm VGA passthrough

Hello, I am trying to get this running, and I already fail at the first thing: Virtualization. I have an intel i7-7700 on an Asus Z270 board, both support virtualization. When I installed Linux, the intel VT-d option was disabled. I enabled it and made sure that Intel Virtualization is also enabled ...

Rainlendar seems to fulfill my needs, although google calendar integration requires the pro version which is not free.

Re: Looking for a calendar app

I am not looking for google results, I am looking for recommendations. Personal experience.

And if you would have read the post and read your results, you would see that basically all of them refer to email synchronization, something I explicitly wrote that I do not want.

Looking for a calendar app

Hi guys, I'm running Linux Mint 17.3 / 18.2 with cinnamon and I am looking for a calendar app with the following possibilities: I use the Samsung calendar app on my phone, and I think it also synchronizes with my gmail account on it. So I would like the desktop app to synchronize with my gmail accou...

Re: Epson Printers, All In Ones, etc...check here!!!

Hey guys, I just bought an Epson Workforce WF-7610 and I have a slight problem: If I print multiple copies of a PDF with a single page, and in the print options chose "One Sided", it will always print an extra blank page between the copies, so it prints 2n sheets. If I set the options to "two sided ...

Security Issue: Unlock password goes directly to guest machine

Hi, I have noticed an issue that is actually quiet a security risk. I run Linux Mint 17.3, 64 bit, cinnamon. Everything up to date, and I have virtualbox 5.1.22. I have another mint 17.3 version running inside virtualbox. Now, I noticed that If I leave the guest window active and the screen of the h...

Login to encrypted drive only works every two reboots

Hi, I just installed Mint 18.2 on my new pc. I always encrypt the drive with LVM when I install Mint. Now I noticed something weird and potentially unsecure. Normally, when I boot there should be a screen where I input my password. If I see this, and type my password, nothing happens. It appears as ...

Mount NFS as soon as server is up?

Hi, At the moment I have my nfs mounted through fstab. At one point I changed my server to shutdown when not needed. But, now If I boot my pc before the server, nothing gets mounted. And even after sending the WOL packet, I need to manually remount the server. I have two ways of starting it. Either ...

Re: setting a path screws up bash

Hi,

I did not have a PYTHONPATH variable before, so setting it created a new one. Thats what confuses me.

Re: setting a path screws up bash

No, as I understand it, the "program" command_not_found is always called from the OS when I you try to run something that is not there. for example, if you want to type ls, but type sl, it will tell you that sl is not known. This is thing is a python script, but is always called by the os. So it is ...

setting a path screws up bash

Hi, I found a really strang and maybe funny problem: I have linux mint 17.x installed. I use some specialized radio astronomy software. To able to run it, I have to set the a PYTHONPATH variable. Now, normally, when you type something into the terminal that does not exist, it will tell you something...

Hi, Audio seems fine, although out of sync, video skips and often instead of skipping a frame, it shows a frame from a second or so ago. I tried that. I changed it to msdos in gparted, but then Windows Setup only said that it could not create a partition on the drive and I was not able to install it.

Re: Boot Mint 18.1 and Windows 10 on different drives

I downloaded the 64 bit cinnamon edition from linuxmint.com, using a server in germany. I then put it on the usb stick using the built in usb stick creator. And since this tool does not have any options, I could not have done anything wrong with it :) Yes, I have, and there are two things that for m...

Re: Boot Mint 18.1 and Windows 10 on different drives

Then why would Mint not install in EFI mode? I also do not have any EFI options in the Boot Menu.

It's a Gigabyte P67A-D3-B3, I think rev.2
