Re: Screen locker with no background, or time

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but this is a HP laptop. I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't see any energy settings. I go to Settings> Screen Locker. I have everything set the same with the HP, Toshiba and my other laptops. The HP laptop monitor (screen) gos black and moving the mous...

Screen locker with no background, or time

Just installed Cinnamon 17.1 on a new HP. The screen locker has no background with pic, or time showing. When going into the saver on my Toshiba it would dim with the pic and show time until it went black. What do I change on the HP to show the both pic and time.
Thanks

Re: Mint 17.1 and Windows 8.1 No Grub

No better the second time around. Fast and secure boot turned off. I still have to come in through BIOS. In the F9 boot options it says "ubuntu HGST (and a bunch of numbers) (UEFI)" for booting into MINT. The Grub screen comes up. Why it just doesn't default to that I have no idea. Moving on with no...

Re: Mint 17.1 and Windows 8.1 No Grub

I used the dvd to look at the setup. It gos to a shell and can't make heads, or tails of it. I'm going to reinstall from within Mint and "Something else". The last thing I used Disk Management from Windows to make the partitions. I don't know if that makes any difference, but going to give it a try....

Re: Mint 17.1 and Windows 8.1 No Grub

Thanks for the comeback. I've redone my Windows install, so starting clean. Can I copy refind-flashdrive-0.8.4.img to my usb and will it work, or do I have to use:
dd if=refind-flashdrive-0.8.4.img of=/dev/sdb
to copy the image, or would it be easier from a CD?
Thanks

Re: Desktop items are way too big

Hello WesternSlope - Forum member gold_finger has already done an excellent tutorial explaining how to dual boot Windows 8/8.1 and Linux Mint. I did have a small part in it, I provided the screenshots he needed. Here is the link: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=163126 Thank you Der...

Hi Derek... How's it going on your side? The dual boot system is working great for the guy and he's very happy. Thanks again! With this guy who knows. I brought his system up with TeamViewer and what you suggested wasn't there. By the way. Have you done a tutorial with Windows 8 and setting it up li...

Are you talking about Appearance Preferences in the System Settings? I see the Fonts, but I see nothing about Fonts and a Details button.
Thanks
