Re: {SOLVED} Black screen coma

I'm sorry for not giving the solution, but I had to reinstall Mint. I waited two, or three days for an answer and there weren't any. After a hour, or so re-installing of Mint from the LiveCD. I had a backup, so all I had to do was restore what I had. There has to be an answer out there though. After...

Re: Error moving file: Permission denied

Form what I'm finding out you need to get your permissions right before you do anything. Fixed all of mine. Here's a great tutorial on permissions.

Hope it helps.

Re: Maya Problem - cannot access desktop items

Here's a great tutorial on permissions and kinda what you were, or are going through. Seven pages of one of the best tutorials I have found.
Solving .dmrc and $HOME Permission Errors
It completely fixed my problems with permissions.

{SOLVED} Black screen coma

While working on my setup I shutdown and brought it back up. When it came back up I got the Mint logo, it left and that's all she wrote. The cursor was there and I could move it, but just a black screen. What might I do to get out of the coma? I'd really hate to loose the full install over this if I...

I've redone it again and Oh..Oh. Will this really matter?
Makes me wonder...
Seems to be running alright, but down the road will it matter? All I have is time. :)

{SOLVED with help} Partition help on a 268gig drive

Got it done and thak you for the help! I let Mint do it. I had it done, but couldn't set the swap to the swap extention, or what ever it's called, so I went ahead and did it the easy way. The grub looks a lot better. No extra entries for Windows with three lines and five different lines looking at M...

Re: Partition help on a 268gig drive

The partitions are done I think. Now how do I get Mint in the right places. Thanks They look done? That is really confusing Windows info is useless. Are they really all Primary? You would have to be using GPT rather than a DOS MBR table. It looks fine except I don't trust windows. I'd prefer to see...

Re: Partition help on a 268gig drive

I got the Parted Magic CD and looking it over. Nice layout and thanks for the tip. The way it looks you have the swap furthest to the left and the rest of the partitions go to the right? I don't want to mess it up this time. You might look at this post to see what I mean. http://forums.linuxmint.com...

Re: Partition help on a 268gig drive

Give 150GB to windows Then manually partition with Gparted for Linux. Take all the free space and create an extended space. Inside the extended space create logical partitions as follows swap 2GB ext4 20GB (for /) ext4 80GB> (for /home) This is what I have, so far. Windows Disk Managemet I have 4GB...

Partition help on a 268gig drive

I started out with a new install of Windows on a 268gig drive after my mess up before. I had more partitions than a 10 foot Levelor blind. With the size of drive I have and wanting at least 100gig for Mint, can anyone give suggestions on the sizes for the rest of the install for the main and swap? T...

{SOLVED}Can Mint be installed over my existing Mint install?

Dual boot. Windows and Mint. I made backups last night of my Mint and when I turned the system on this morning Mint came up with no panel (Menu, Clock etc...) and gos nowhere. Can Mint be installed over my existing install, or will I have to install Windows and then install Mint?
Thanks

When I set up for Mint, I set it up too low. I set the partition up for 20gig. Now I want to increase it to 60gig. If I use the LiveCD and gparted from the Live Can I change it from there?
