Re: I do not want Thunderbird to sync with remote email server

I will open my laptop and check the setting but I think you have touched on the problem I am having. I used the same system on my desktop, exact. But on my desktop, the two systems do not interfere with each other: My desktop retains all emails and doesnt touch the Hotmail server, all messages there...

Re: I do not want Thunderbird to sync with remote email server

I can give it a try. The problem with this is that it takes a few days to see if the change made a difference. It takes a couple of days to see, "oh ok my emails are not being deleted on my computer". So I would be glad to collect all suggestions and try them one by one over the next week or so. If ...

I do not want Thunderbird to sync with remote email server

I dont know what I did wrong but for some reason Thunderbird is syncing with my remote hotmail server. Hotmail is free but it really limits the amount of messages that are stored. On Hotmail my old email is being deleted everyday, thus, it is deleted on my computer too. I want to keep all the emails...

Re: [SOLVED] Software free for Canon TS5050 doest not recognize the device

I have a correction to make. This is how I set up my Dell Printer, not the Canon. I can use a browser to access my Canon and Dell both via IP. I assume the two procedures are analogous. Also, Canon has some of the best tech support ever. They never get frustrated and make me feel bad about dumb ques...

Re: [SOLVED] Software free for Canon TS5050 doest not recognize the device

It is not that easy, at least not for me. You have to access your printer across your network. http:// 192.168.1.??? what ever the IP is for your printer. Here the printer will ask the IP of your computer and the directory that you want to save your PDF to. In my case I had to tell Samba to share th...

Re: No-IP will not install

Since I am not an OS guy, I really dont fiddle with the OS files. I simply use linux and install software from the repositories When I upgrade it is always a clean install. The only thing I dont format is the HOME directory. I leave that untouched and just set a mount point for it: something like /h...

Re: No-IP will not install

Ok that worked. I never saw anything about precompiled on the No-IP website. They had some girl on a video that said if installation doesnt work then you are missing a compiler: "Go Do That". I am glad I came on these boards. Saved me headaches. And, now I got it all in writing so I can print it and...

Re: No-IP will not install

I appreciate the input. I followed all the commands and it just gives me the same errors. I feel certain that I am missing a type of C or C++ compiler of some sort. In the past, I scanned the internet and install lots of little obscure compilers. The problem is that you have to always reboot to make...

Re: Software free for Canon TS5050 Multifunction printer?

How sure are we of this repository?

I had a similar problem with my MX920 and I set up in the printer a directory that is on my computer that it should send scanned files to.

I get nervous with these outside the distro repositories.

No-IP will not install

I have had this problem for the past few releases of this distro. In the past, some how I got it working by searching the internet and experimenting, then suddenly boom,it works. I keep thinking, "oh they will do a bug fix" WRONG. My brain is too worn out from this to continue trial and error, can s...

Re: smbmount

Oooops, never mind, I found the answer at Samba.org. My command had to change sudo mount -t cifs //ip/directory /my mount point -o user=frankenstein Thanks for the info, it got me there. I forgot to mention that previously I was using "username=frankenstein", the old smbmount way. Thats where the er...

Re: smbmount

In my efforts to correct this problem, I installed pyneighborhood and I think cifs-utils got installed with it. But I still dont know exactly how to make this work. Is my command wrong for mounting the system?
