Low Disk Space on "Filesystem root"

Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon 64bit. Something is filling up my root partition and I just got the below message: http://i.imgur.com/BE8xvdt.png I clicked on examine and it tells me the below: http://i.imgur.com/SfdAV9l.png Conky confirms that my root partition is filled up. Is it normal to have that data...

Re: Install packages in one command via the Terminal

Hmm couldn't get either to work on my test laptop so just doing it by hand at the moment, not such a chore with music on and tennis on the TV.

Will continue to try though on my laptop.

Thank you, I'll give it a go.

Install packages in one command via the Terminal

Hi, I'm about to upgrade from Cinnamon 17.1 32bit to Cinnamon 17.2 64bit, as I'm going from 32bit to 64bit I'll have to do a manual install (which is fine) rather than use the updater through the Update Manager. I've run off a list of all my installed packages with the below commands: dpkg --get-sel...

Re: Where did my Menu button go?

I use Cinnamon not Mate but can't you right click on the panel and select an applet that's called Menu/MintMenu?

Re: Turn off Start-up sound for LM 17.1 Cinnamon

Or search the menu for an application called Screenshot: I also use Shotwell Viewer to do any editing. Shutter is also a good screenshot application which is available in the Software Manager. I use http://imgur.com/ to create a link so that I can include pictures in posts in this forum. http://i.im...

Re: Open With - PDF

Regarding the first dialog above, the box is different on my screen but it does appear that "Document Viewer" is default. In Thunderbird, I just realized that if I try to open a PDF that is an attachment to a received e-mail, it brings up the same dialog box you have displayed and Document Viewer i...

Re: Open With - PDF

Just to confirm when you right click on a .pdf file > Properties > Open With does it state that the Default program is Document Viewer?

Like this:

Also, when you open a .pdf file from Thunderbird does it open a dialog box like this?

Re: Uncomfortable quick launch icons?

Might be stating the obvious here but are you sure that it's not just the way you click the icons?

I have 6 quick launch icons and I don't find any of them hard to press and they never move.

Do you have the same issue with icons on your desktop?

I'd be glad to. I may be blind but I do not see a "mark as solved" something anywhere.
You have to edit you opening post and change the subject with [RESOLVED] at the end.

Re: how do you delete s/ware

If you're running Cinnamon you can just right click on the software in the menu and click 'Uninstall' and it will remove the program.

I assume it goes through the same steps as the Software Manager and Synaptic.

Re: Determine wireless adapter possible speed

JeremyB, I think I already made pretty clear that the wifi device in question can't use two data streams and that is where the speed is limited. You can keep trying router settings but the real solution would be another wifi device in the computer. @ gibbs1984: Router settings are best left at thei...

OK thanks, so best to leave it alone or should I try it and if I encounter issues then just revert back or will the issues be permanent?

Thanks for all your help though everyone, very much appreciated, love this place :)

Re: Determine wireless adapter possible speed

I couldn't find a 11n option but whilst looking I found Advanced Settings and in there I found this: For some reason it was set to "Up to 144Mbps (best for wireless range)" so I changed it to the highest option. http://i.imgur.com/fxJfE1k.png Now I'm getting speeds of: http://i.imgur.com/xhocvW8.png...

Re: Determine wireless adapter possible speed

OK tried both things and hasn't made a difference :(

My phone on the 5Ghz signal just got 112.25mbps download speed.

My phone on the 2.4Ghz signal just got 47.06 download speed.

Must be something to do with the router on the 2.4ghz signal surely?
