Move the dialog window back to the titlebar [SOLVED]

A new feature(?) in Rosa was to move the dialog windows to the centre of the screen but I preferred to have it on the titlebar, I've looked round the settings but can't see any options to change it, is it possible? From the Linux Mint feature page: Dialog windows are now attached to their parent win...

Need to change graphics driver but can't get into Mint

It's OK, I fixed it by following the below that I found on the internet. I logged in as root first, no idea if that is needed though. For 14.04 and upwards, jockey-text isn't installed or available in the repository. I have just recovered from an issue where the Noveau driver caused my computer to l...

Need to change graphics driver but can't get in [SOLVED]

So I've had a problem running a game natively via Steam, it was a graphics issue and I figured out that changing the drivers from the recommended drivers to the 304 drivers made the game work. That driver was a little bit choppy so I thought I'd try the other drivers, trying the 173 (I think) driver...

Cinnamon 17.2 - Windows not in the centre

Hi, Don't know if this is necessarily a bug or not but in Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon I have the windows to open in the centre of the screen: http://i.imgur.com/LnrlZL8.png I also have a keyboard shortcut whereby I can easily centre windows with the Super_L+C key combination: http://i.imgur.com/UkxivmO...

Re: Low Disk Space on "Filesystem root"

You might try this: sudo rm -v /var/log/kern.log /var/log/kern.log.1 /var/log/syslog Followed by: sudo touch /var/log/kern.log /var/log/kern.log.1 /var/log/syslog At your own risk, of course.... :P Is that risky though, I don't want to do anything that damages my computer. I don't know..... Unknown...

Then reboot.

Re: Low Disk Space on "Filesystem root"

Going in the process of install a new kernel in the 3.16 range. Can I delete those logs though to free up space? If they now have a cap on them then should be OK now shouldn't I? I suppose so.... But maybe their size has been decreased already automatically? Nope, they're still the same size althou...

Re: Upload image to mint from mobile phone--how?

Is it an Android phone?

Mine shows up in Devices in Nemo.

As a workaround for the moment you could use the app AirDroid from the Play Store, works great as no cables needed.

Can't see anything in the BIOS that allows me to disable the integrated graphics card. Can it be done from the Terminal?

EDIT: I've put a cap on all the files now with:

gksudo leafpad /etc/logrotate.d/kern.log
gksudo leafpad /etc/logrotate.d/kern.log.1
gksudo leafpad /etc/logrotate.d/syslog

Re: Low Disk Space on "Filesystem root"

This may be a clue: the error also mentions AMD. This could point to the graphics card or even the CPU (hopefully not). Please generate an overview of your system like this: - launch a terminal window and make it full screen, to avoid chopped lines; - copy/paste this command into the terminal: inxi...

OK I've just applied the cap on my log files and restarted. How do I go about finding the device which is spawning the I/O errors?

OK, first do this emergency measure: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/bugs#TOC-The-size-of-the-log-files-in-var-log-gets-out-of-hand (item 15, right column) And then try to analyze and fix the cause of the error reports. Yeah it's definitely in var/logs. I just lost 5mb in about 2 minutes.

Down to 196mb now, freaky.
