Re: Random freezing

Are you using nvidia prime and a touchpad? That was causing my freezes. I solved by installing bumblebee. Here is my post.

Hope it works. You can Google Linux touchpad freeze and see some other solutions if indeed that is your cause

Re: Tearing & out of sync videos

When prime is enabled, there is currently no synchronization between the source device producing the pixels and the sink device reading them. I.e., in a typical NVIDIA + Intel configuration, the Intel chip just scans out the shared buffer constantly, without regard to when the pixels are copied int...

I believe it is still not working because Firefox has currently blocked all Flash until an update is installed.

Wouldn't it require me entering my password? Think about things, that you can - legitimately - do without entering your password: Read data, delete data, make changes to data, make online deals, send information about you via Internet, make illegal downloads or uploads, make your user account unusa...

It allows attackers to execute arbitrary code :D http://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability-list/vendor_id-53/product_id-6761/Adobe-Flash-Player.html Yeah I saw that...but that is exactly why I ask. Adobe Flash vulnerabilities - What's the worst that can happ

Let's for scenario sake say that I didn't update flash and continued using the vulnerable versions. And let's assume that someone was successful in taking advantage of the exploits on my computer. What is the worst they could do to my install? The best I could find was that these vulnerabilities aff...

Re: Weird Freeze: keyboard & mouse or queue or X11?

It would be nice if someone had a real solution (as opposed to my hardware damaging workaround) and would drop us a line here. I'll keep hoping. ;-) Are you using Nvidia Prime? My problem sounded exactly like yours. Odd freezing at indeterminate times. My problem was caused by the touchpad while us...

Re: bumblebee or prime ?

For me it is UNDOUBTEDLY bumblebee. The reason is...using prime on an optimus laptop, there is NO real solution to the problem of "syncing" the rendered image of the nvidia card to the "printing" of the image by the intel integrated card on the laptop's LCD. This is what causes tearing and vsync iss...

And to anyone interested: To answer the original question..."Am I using my Nvidia card or Intel card or both?" The answer is BOTH if you are using the Nvidia Proprietary drivers. The intel integrated graphics is what is Directly connected to the Laptop's LCD screen and is what actually prints the im...

Re: Am I using my Nvidia card or Intel card or both?

Update: Bumblebee solved the vsync and tearing issues well beyond my expectations! It was a smidge difficult to get everything working properly but now that I have it..I could not be happier. There are zero tearing / vsync issues now and it feels like a whole system. In fact X3 Terran conflict runs ...

Re: Am I using my Nvidia card or Intel card or both?

Your xorg.conf file holds the clue. Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "layout" Screen 0 "nvidia" Inactive "intel" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "nvidia" Driver "nvidia" BusID "PCI:1@0:0:0" Option "ConstrainCursor" "off" EndSection So you're definitely running with the nvidia graphics. Ahhh...
