Re: LMDE version questions

I think that LMDE is fine. What is the problem? Other than being based on Debian instead of Ubuntu and Debian they seem to be the same. I do think that the installer, for advanced users, could use some work but other than that what else is the problem? It is very stable and easy to use.

Re: No Games installed by default in Mint?

I like Mint the way it is now... no games. If I want games, I'll install only the ones I want.

Re: Why does anyone use linux?

You ask, "why does anyone use Linux?". I use Linux because It does everything I want to do better than anything other that I have tried. If I needed to do something that needed Windows, for example, I would use it to do that, if I could do it off line so that I didn't have to worry about getting a v...

Re: I love LMDE!

I really wasn't sure where to post this, but I just want to say how thrilled I am with LMDE! I tried pure Debian Testing, and had a nightmare with getting audio to work. I tried SolydXK (with XFCE which is still epic itself bc it has a few LM tools) and I put Kwin on there and I think it broke. So ...

Re: No more open-source software for closed-source platforms

Stop spamming the board with useless ideas like this. For the last week you had a stupid idea a day. Take a breath, go out, breathe some fresh air and go enjoy your new windows install. Thanks. I don't run Windows at all and I have reported this to the forum moderators as an insult. If you d...

Re: Need full access

If I can not get Dolphin to give me full access and writeability, I will have no choice but to un-install Mint. I should not have to use Puppy Linux to edit Mint files. Andy Did you try sudo dolphin, then give root password, and that will make you root in dolphin. This should give you full ac...

Re: Need full access

I don't know what you're trying to do or why you need to get into /root, but to become root enter this is the terminal sudo passwd root enter a password for root then to become root, in the terminal su - then root's password and you'll become root. Yes there's a '-' after su, include it. Good luck ...

Is something like this available for Mint?

There is a program, QuickBook, That will produce manuals, brochures etc. Take a look at it here: http://www.bluesquirrel.com/products/clickbook/. I have seen it for windows and it is really a great program. I was wondering if there is a program like it for LinuxMint?

This is as far as I can get so far.
Could you please upload a snapshot that can be scrolled. And if you can, please upload simple step by step instructions, from the start to the finish, on how you accomplished this. Thanks again! /don

Re: [Help] How can I make Window snapshot scroll?

I am using Mate. I also have installed ksnapshot. I have tried Prt Scr, Alt Prt Scr and anything else that I could think of and nothing does it for me. I have no ideaopf how to post one image on top of another. Thanks for trying though.

[Help] How can I make Window snapshot scroll?

How do I take a snapshot of a window to upload to the Mint forum and have the scroll bar work? This is what I have now and it doesn't scroll, as you can see.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Live USB Thumb Drive of All Flavors of Mint

I have used MultiSystem and Easy2Boot. I have not tried YUMI. MultiSystem works fine but when you delete an iso file it still shows up in the menu when you boot it. I think you might be able to edit grub and fix it but I have not tried it. If you install a new iso after you delete one it might not b...
