Re: Linux hates high resolution monitors

I have been running 1920*1200 on my 25" screen for the last 5 years on various Linux machines with no problems at all.

Re: lmde 2 users

I have been using Betsy-2-RC ever since it came out and have found no problems yet. I really like it.

You do know that Mint 17.x is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian don't you?

Re: when lmde 2 (betsy) will be available?

On this version of LMDE 2 MATE, when a window is pushed up to the top of the screen, the screen turns green and the window enlarges to full screen. Anyone know how to stop this from happening? I don't see any benefit for it doing it this way.

Re: when lmde 2 (betsy) will be available?

On the older version of MATE, when the panel is enlarged to 36 pixels high, the working files are doubled up so that there are 2 in each column. In this new one I have to enlarge the pixels to 54 to get the same effect. I would like to get back to the 36 pixel enlargement. Anyone Know how I can do it?

My machine is AMD 8530/8 GB 1866 RAM/ GeForce 650/Kingston SSD/ Asus 970 board. Downloaded Betsy 64-bit Cinnamon also and the installer stopped at the same poin...

Re: Display sleeping often then need password to log back in

I think the easiest way is to go to menu->Control Center->Screensaver and set it the way you want. I use: Regard the computer is idle after: 25 minutes and I uncheck Lock screen when screensaver is active.

Re: when lmde 2 (betsy) will be available?

apt-get autoremove acts stupid no matter what init system is installed. According to manpages "autoremove is used to remove packages that were automatically installed to satisfy dependencies for other packages and are now no longer needed." But you have to check very carefully because this "now lon...

Re: when lmde 2 (betsy) will be available?

the user testimony about cinnamon 2.4 on debian testing means that providing intermediary transition isn't that hard. You're doing people a disservice by depicting Betsy (i.e. Jessie "current") as being better, more stable and more reliable than LMDE. It certainly isn't. You can be productive and t...

Re: when lmde 2 (betsy) will be available?

"When it is Ready" =You'll be waiting a long time then. If it takes them longer than a few weeks to apply Mint customisations and tweaks to a Debian system then they probably don't care much. I could have completed 'Linux from Scratch' by Spring 2015. It's ridiculous. It will not be too long for me...

Re: when lmde 2 (betsy) will be available?

Same can be said for Mint 17.1 Sure, but installing 17.1 you would note problems right at the install. That's hardly time lost. Installing LMDE 201403 might work fine but give trouble with the big upgrade in spring 2015 on a fully installed system. That's more time lost to fix or install anew. I ha...

As long as we are still talking "dream world" here: IN MY DREAMS---I could download a "barebones" minimal interface package based on the Mint philosophy.
