Re: Doesn't Anyone have any problems with LMDE-MATE

Hi Distro-Don, Have you also tried Mint Mate? If so how would you compare LMDE Mate to Mint Mate? What are a few of the things you really like about LMDE-Mate Yes, I have tried and used Mint Mate 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17. I like all of them and they are very good. If I couldn't have LMDE I would use L...

[SOLVED} Doesn't Anyone have any problems with LMDE-MATE

I and my wife have been using LMDE-MATE exclusively as our primary operating systems for a year or more and haven't had any problems at all with them. I have a number of friends that also use LMDE-MATE and they tell me that they are very happy with it too and some have given up dual booting Windows ...

Bravo! I thank you for gracing my post with your in finite knowledge oh great and powerful py-thon. Good day to you. [bows to one knee] There is no LMDE 17. Just LMDE or LM 17. Duly noted, and updated, but do you have anything to add to the actual problem? Distro-Don, do you know why both installer...

Re: Linux and Multifunction printers

I have been using nothing but Linux for quite a few years and am using LinuxMint 17 and also LMDE, my favorite by far. I have had a number of HP MFP's, over the years, and they have all have worked flawlesly out of the box. I just bought an HP Color Laserjet pro MFP M476dn. I have hplip-3.14.6 so th...

Re: LMDE 201403 Installation on two hard disks

I also have an SSD drive (sda) and a HDD drive (sdb). I do this in order to make my SSD last as long as possible and also for the speed increase. I copy this from /etc/fstab on sda1,2,3, 5 or 6 and paste it to the end of LMDE's fstab: # /archives was on /dev/sdb1 during installation UUID=xxxxxxxxxxx...

Re: Wish List

I would like to have an iso like the mini.iso of Ubuntu for Linux Mint. I use LMDE the most so I would especially like to have it for this. I really think that a lot of us would like the option of having only the software that we use installed, without all the cruft. There probably should be two ver...

Re: Two Debian Distros on One Multi-boot USB

I have a 64GB thumb drive with both 32 bit & 64 bit versions of Linux Mint 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and DE ISOs. Some are MATE, Cinnamon etc. I still have room for more. I have done many installs with it. I built this using: https://sites.google.com/a/rmprepusb.com/www/tutorials/114. I have also made many...

Seems like I remember that, and many others, too. Hope he switches soon.

Re: Linux Mint 18 should be called "Rita"

Well so far it seems the naming of the distro's has been about : A. A female name B. First letter has to correspond to the version number -> version 1 starts with an A, version 2 starts with a B etc. C. Name needs to end with the letter A Since Mint version 17 already comply to the above, maybe the...

Re: Would you like LMDE to be based on Stable, not on Testin

I understand that if LMDE were based on stable and someone wanted to have it based on testing, all that they would have to do is change the repositories to testing and update. Too bad that doesn't work in reverse. That would solve everything in that case.

Re: Can you make 2 bootable OS's on one USB flash drive?

Kind of a dumb question, but can you write 2 (or more) ISOs to a USB stick at the same time (and choose which live USB to boot to each time?) I'm trying to test a few different distros. If so, would I need a certain program, or can I just use the USB image writer that comes with Mint? Here's how to...
