Temperature Sensors

I've really confused myself on this. I have a conky that shows me, among other things, various temperatures of my components. I thought that I had this all sorted out, but I don't think that I do. While the "sensors" command gives good info, I'm not sure where everything lines up. Here's a shot of i...

Re: Nemo Annoyance

I disabled all of the plug-ins (I think that's what you meant, I couldn't find Add-ons) and restarted Nemo - no luck, unfortunately. I'm running 17.2, Cinnamon 2.6.13, 64-bit with Nemo 2.6.7. Am I the only one who is getting that at the top of the Nemo window when inserting removable media? I purged...

Re: Nemo Annoyance

Unfortunately, this still happens; I've tried it both ways. Setting the "Prompt or start programs on media insertion" to OFF prevents a pop-up dialogue from coming up (or, presumably, from auto-playing a DVD, or opening Calibre, for instance, depending on my settings) but I still get the buttons at ...

Re: Nemo Annoyance

Thank you for the suggestion, but, unfortunately, it didn't help.

Thanks again.

Nemo Annoyance

This is a slight annoyance but one that I would like to get rid of. Whenever I plug a thumb-drive or my cell phone through USB, then open Nemo, I get the following: nemo.jpg Generally speaking, I know what's on the storage device and really don't need the helpers that take up real estate on my scree...

Re: Need help getting utorrent asap

Tixati http://www.tixati.com/ It looks a little dated, but has some really great features. They claim that it runs on 'modern' linux distros like fedora and ubuntu but they don't actually say what releases it runs on. It requires installing from a deb file ... which can really make your OS unstable...

Re: Ugly LibreOffice, no longer uses Cinnamon themes <Solved

As if I didn't feel like a big enough idiot before, or that I don't appreciate your fix, Cosmo, but I found the really easy fix. I was going through the options and found this: openfix.jpg Uncheck "Use LibreOffice dialogs" and it uses the Linux dialogs. Again, I appreciate it, but I must have checke...

Re: Ugly LibreOffice, no longer uses Cinnamon themes

Fantastic!

I had to go back and install libreoffice-gnome and then it was fixed. A few personalizations to change and I am good to go.

Thank you!

Re: Ugly LibreOffice, no longer uses Cinnamon themes

I did preserve it. If I recall correctly, the ugly problem began before I reinstalled 17.2.

Ugly LibreOffice, no longer uses Cinnamon themes <Solved>

Although this problem has persisted for a while, I recently decided to try to correct it. It's not really broken, just annoying. For some time, all LibreOffice applications would have the same look and feel as everything else. Menus, dialogue boxes, dropdowns, etc, in the application were pretty muc...

Re: Sound not coming through HDMI cable into my monitor

I've used such cables in the past to carry sound, so is it a property/ limitation of my graphics card that this cable type is not appropriate? I believe that is what is being said. No, not by me, anyway. There is some confusion around whether or not you have an actual HDMI port on the graphics card...

Re: Sound not coming through HDMI cable into my monitor

I don't know where you're plugging in that cable from the attachment you posted here http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=199144#p1035564 Unless it's a typo, he wrote that the back of his card does not look like that: I have no idea what you two are talking about. But the back of my gra...

Re: Sound not coming through HDMI cable into my monitor

So, when you plug your monitor into HDMI, are you using an HDMI cable that plugs directly into the monitor and directly into the graphics card? In other words, does the port in the back of the monitor and the port (that you are using) on the graphics card look the same? The reason that it's importan...

Re: Sound not coming through HDMI cable into my monitor

Here is his from the inxi out put. http://i.imgur.com/pfG9vXd.png Right-O, but here's mine, which has the same designation on inxi -Fzx (see attached.) So, I guess the burning question for the OP is, are you plugging this in from an HDMI port to an HDMI port, -OR- are you using a converter? If it's...

Re: Sound not coming through HDMI cable into my monitor

"The 9500GT does not support audio or have HDMI out. A DVI-D to HDMI connection carries no audio." I recently replaced a 9500GT and it does have an HDMI output. I had it plugged into my monitor that way, however, my monitor had no speakers. I got sound through the onboard audio and never worried ab...

Re: Upgrading to 17.1 - and to 17.2 Still Fails

I waited to upgrade to 17.2 so that I could do so through the update manager. I just finished and it still sort of failed. Even after the update (which appeared to go through okay) I had to change /etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list and replace qiana (it reverted back to that)...

Congrats!

Although I have to admit that I was hoping for a solution that would help me with my own slow boot. Maybe I'll unplug everything and give that a go.

Re: Mint 17.2 Cinnamon takes long to load

I'm wondering, too, where the longest load time is: before the login screen? After the login screen? Or split equally between the two? The login screen comes instantly after the boot selection screen. All the waiting before a black screen is after the login. That's where it happens for me, too. Boo...
