Re: Live Install - doesn't

hey vonskippy,

Could your problem be the hdd not being UNmounted during that part of installation? This is the only way all the choices would be greyed out...

Otherwise I don't have an answer, as I have had no trouble installing on similar kit which you are using.

Re: Update removed internet connectivity

mintmaniac2

my guess? You've brought in an update which wasn't stable, yet (which is part of the nature of the 4 and 5 categories. Read their descriptions.)

Unless, someone else can pin-point the offending issue and give you a work-around...you may be looking at a new installation.

Re: cannot install mscorefonts

deepus, Can you install anything else using Software Manager or terminal? This really sounds more like a connection/network issue of some sort... Have you tried this with "Synaptic Package Manager"? This works similarly to Software Manager, click on Reload just to refresh the repositories (it may ha...

deepus, Welcome to Mint... I suspect two things the first is really far-fetched...that you lose your Internet connection only when you do this....(told you it was far-fetched) The second thing to try...open Software Manager > Edit > Software Sources > Other Software. make sure the box is checked for...

Re: using Mint 9 on a laptop trying to use projector

Could it be that the KVM is not being recognized totally? Seems like it may be seen as a usb mass storage, and not for its features?
Have you looked in the menu > administration > hardware driver to see if the KVM switch is listed to access its drivers.?

Re: LXDE, WEP gnome-keyring annoyance

hey stozi, I found it on Johnny Chadda's blog, and it's quick enough to share right here: Right click the Network Manager icon in your panel, select Edit Connections, and switch to the Wireless tab. Select the connection you want to work with and click the Edit button. Check the boxes for Connect Au...

Re: using Mint 9 on a laptop trying to use projector

imatek, welcome to Mint! I have Mint9 installed on a 60 series and have run live on a 40 series thinkpad, and used both units in and out of its dock with no problems, even while running. Both have run a projector w/o any issues either, even in switching screen modes (Fn+f7) How are you connecting to...

Do you have an internet connection icon in your notification area (probably bottom right hand corner)? Right click on it and see if Enable Wireless is checked...if it isn't, click on it...

Re: no Wifi

hey tweakedlogic, Welcome to Mint... ...um, if you could attach your lappy to any wired connection even for a few minutes, you would probably be able to get the wifi driver delivered in an update, and all would be well. My guess as to brand of card, a broadcom variety. I have a broadcom card in my l...

ozdoggy, I hope you accept an apology from the start, I can't help you with tesseract... but wanted to give you another possibility. I have been using (with wine) SimpleOCR (the free version, simpleocr.com). It generally works with standard scans, but its % of recognition isn't the best, fixing 5-15...

Re: xp very slow boot after adding LM9

Juicer, Yay! Glad that thread was helpful! I would suggest the following partitions at minimum: "/" or root partition (without the " 's) This partition would hold the kernel and most apps. Suggest 6-10 gb size (When one updates, upgrades or "Horrors!" changes distros, this is the partition that woul...

Re: xp very slow boot after adding LM9

juicer, I'll answer only the questions i know... 1. correct, Mint made two new partitions, the larger will contain your Mint, apps, settings and data. (It would be best to learn about making these partitions manually in the future, as you can put your data on a separate partition to be untouched whe...

Re: Desktop too big for monitor?

Bug67,

Can you hook up the monitor and the tv at the same time?
I am hoping that if you can, you will be able to use the Preferences > Monitors utility to choose a better resolution for the TV.

I still haven't found an answer except that since this is a RC version, one may expect things to not always work correctly, since it isn't the final version.

I would try re-installing...

Re: "desktop" missing in my filesystem

I am running regular gnome mint, so I am not sure of a fix. It does seem interesting that it wasn't there from the start.
i will do some searching here to help, though.
