Just did a fresh install of 17.1 wiil load it in 3 PCs so wanted to download .iso. After installed it is well worth the time super smooth and fast like a supercharged 17.

I had the same problem found out in system settings Mint 17 defaulted to SPDIF I just changed it to HDMI all works fine now. After you get it back running (reinstalled) if sound dont work try this. Menu-System Setings- sound- and select HDMI
