Minimized app disappears, but is still running

When I minimize an app, I no longer see it on the panel. It just disappears. But system monitor shows the process is still running. I can alt+tab and switch.

Re: Backup Software 4 Mate 17

I'm very new to mint and still learning my way around it. I get some things setup the way I want, tweeks to the look and feel, how I get around, applications I want, then I do something to break it. At first it was easy to just do a clean install. Now I'm getting into it and getting more things setu...

Re: Restore old Firefox data after using mint backup and res

Just tried that. I do not see my bookmarks, none of my credentials are available and I had several - not sure what to call them, but I'll go with "tabs" under the address bar - that are gone.

/home on second drive - setup raid 0?

I'm running linux mint mate 17. My /home is on a seperate drive from the OS. How do I setup raid 0 for the /home drive? I use an SSD drive for the OS and apps and I have two 1 tb HDD's that I want to run as raid 0, for a little speed boost. Can I do it and if so, please point me to a decent article....

Restore old Firefox data after using mint backup and restore

Made a backup of Mint KDE 15 and installed Mate 17. Restored files (lost permissions but recovered) and applications, but I see a folder - Firefox old data on the desktop and none of my firefox settings are in firefox. How does one get that data back in there?

Backup Software 4 Mate 17

I'd like to make a complete backup, then automate incremental or differencial backups. Any recommendations? I have the latest Terabyteinc.com's latest imaging software, and I understand it'll do just that (and works great on my wifes Windoz) but I can find no instructions on google.

Will this drive (details within) work mate 17 - what to use

Fantom Drives 2TB GForce3 USB 3.0/eSATA Aluminum External Hard Drive (GF3B2000EU) This puppy is only $70 on Amazon. My machine is a Lenovo thinkserver ts140. I have an ADSA3GPX1-2E Raid 5 2CH Esata II Pcie card. The Lenovo does not come with Esata. I'd prefer Esata as I assume it's faster than USB 3...

Re: The right way to move the home folder

mv /home/cave-man /home/cave-man.bak Responds with: mv: cannot move ‘/home/cave-man’ to ‘/home/cave-man.bak’: Permission denied I dare not go any further until I know more. Thanks, Brian [Edit] I should also point out that this is a new build, machine and all, so I'm not above editing files and/or r...

The right way to move the home folder

I see dozens of articles on how to move the home folder but they include everything from writing a script to praying.

Is there a right way, that's relatively easy for an older timer who has an old mind that't not so good at learning anymore?

Re: upgrade from mint 16 cinnamon to mint 17 kde

If I understand the upgrade process, one first backs up their /home files, then backs up their installed apps. Then the system does a fresh install.
