Re: Totally prefer KDE to Cinnamon

I think Cinnamon is killer, functional and good looking. If you don't really need KDE's tweakability, I don't really need it that much, Cinnamon is great. Both Gnome and KDE typical apps are quite mature. I find Cinnamon very good besides I tend to prefer the KDE essential apps pack. Anyway, I would...

Re: Totally prefer KDE to Cinnamon

+1 T-ray. I never manged to have KDE working this good on Kubuntu or KXStudio as it's working right now on Olivia 15 KDE (besides it's still a non final build). I solved my initial issues and crashes and it's running pleasantly smooth. I occasionally tried Linux distros in the past but always stuck ...

I'd prefer a loooong time wait for a single bug free release instead.

Re: Can I disable the preview pop-ups in Dolphin?

After a new update last night, it seems to work smooth now. Yes, I have an Nvidia Quadro FX1500 card. I installed the recommended nvidia-304 drivers when I was trying LM & LMDE Cinnamon last week and both times my monitors went wrong. Graphics crashed on boot. I had to reinstall both times to revert...

Re: Can I disable the preview pop-ups in Dolphin?

That's it! Thanks!!! Is this a new KDE 4.10 feature? I've never seen it before... or never noticed it. About enabling the Kubuntu PPA repositories and updating, no change. The same bugs going on... Not terrible, but not fancy either. KWin crashing every now and then. Oxigen dektop theme has turned i...

Re: Can I disable the preview pop-ups in Dolphin?

Is that disabled by default on Olivia KDE? Go to Control > Configure Dolphin. Select the General category on the left (scroll the sidebar down if not shown) and on the Behavior tab enable "Show selection markers". That should restore + & - icons. There you go! Thank you! You mean the large display ...

Can I disable the preview pop-ups in Dolphin?

I just gave up trying to get LMDE with KDE. KDE 4.8 hogs my CPU. I Went back to LMDE Cinnamon for a few days and it worked smooth and rock solid. The most reliable OS I've tried lately... but I badly miss Dolphin. So installed Linux Mint 15 KDE... Back to the Ubuntu and buggy KDE world but at least ...

Re: LMDE file sys

If you 'need' swap and don't want to take the performance hit, set up your swap in RAM. even if someone have huge ram, they'll need swap since some kernel require swap for suspend and hibernate. I agree that using too much swap will make the system slower but completely disable it isn't best soluti...

Re: LMDE file sys

Though there's a lot of strong debate about the topic, Swap memory is not really needed in current OSs. Have you ever seen the Swap partition used at all by any OS? No? There you go. It can be disabled at all and won't affect performance at all unless your computer is really lacking RAM or you run i...

Dolphin file manager in LMDE?

Is it possible/advisable to install Dolphin in Cinnamon? Using it instead of Files? I installed KDE, but the available version in the repositories (4.8.4) fully hogs my CPU and freezes everything. You know, the Nepomuk, Strigi & Akonadi trio... It never happened to me in this same machine using diff...

Re: Blackberry: Mounting both device and SD card?

Just one partition in the output. Just the SD card.

I'll try to figure out how to move the files from the phone to the card within the device. Thanks anyway.

Re: Blackberry: Mounting both device and SD card?

I have a Bold... But not all the files are there. Just the ones in the SD card. I'd like to copy some files stored inside the device to the computer.

Any help will be welcome. Don't want to sync the device, just transfering some files in and out.

Blackberry: Mounting both device and SD card?

Hi all. I'm new here.

When I connect my Blackberry via USB to a Linux (LMDE or Ubuntu) it mounts the micro SD card only. Whether connecting it to a Mac or Win build it mounts two disks; both the device and the SD card. Any way to mount both drives in LMDE?

Thanks in advance.
