ZevenOS Neptune

Anyone bothered to give a try to Neptune 3.2? I'm pretty new on Mint and this forum. I've tried a few different Mint releases and settled in Olivia KDE. But even been perfectly happy with it, I keep dreaming about an LMDE KDE release, something that doesn't exist. ...

Re: Mint KDE 15

It's working great for some users like me since the day one. Nothing is perfect. I know many users having big troubles after a fresh install of Windows, Mac, and various Linux distros. Installing an OS (any OS) is always a critical thing. Sometimes it works perfectly right out of the box, sometimes ...

What about System Settings > Shortcuts and Gestures? There are also extra keyboard settings in System Settings > Keyboard > Advanced tab.

Re: What stuff do you uninstall after installation?

For KDE. (for me it's only KDE or Xfce, no Gnome or Gnome forks do it for me) Get rid of all the chat apps, Kmail, Kaddress, etc... Games (if any, thankfully Mint excluded them), Rekonq (still too green), Konqueror (not needed anymore), Amarok, Abiword (if present)... Get Chromium (prefer Firefox, b...

Re: [CLOSED] Mint 15 KDE language setting

Buggy? KDE 4.10.5 is one of the less buggy releases I've tried. Not bug free, of course, but what DE is bug free at all? I'm fine with it and I wouldn't call it buggy. Most of the oddities I've found with this release were my own mistakes indeed, not KDE bugs. At least this is my own experience. The...

Re: Search - 2 part question

Yeah, what I tried to say is that I cannot help too much in this area because I never gave the "linked" K-apps suite a chance. I always use alternative ones. I have Nepomuk disabled so I don't expect killer searches. But I can live with it. Nevertheless, do you enabled everything in System Settings>...

Re: Search - 2 part question

IMO, Though I love and use some KDE apps daily, Independently of using KDE, Gnome, Unity, Mint, XFCE or whatever, I think it's better to use cross-platform main apps. Such as Thunderbird, Firefox, LibreOffice, VLC, etc.... You never know when a PC can go south. Cross-platform apps and files can make...

Re: Pulse audio input only from computer microphone

Afaik, pavucontrol is not needed anymore in KDE and it's known to give some problems sometimes. Kmix does the job now and it normally has no issues. Anyway, what Phonon backend are you using? VLC works better than GStreamer.

Re: Clementine downloads in Spanish? Why?

Well, I've changed it in preferences. Language was set to system default, which it seems to refer to system geographic localization, but not the selected default system language... absurd.

Clementine downloads in Spanish? Why?

I don't have any language packages installed but English, but if installing Clementine via the Software manager the app is in Spanish... Why? Is the system Locale (Spain) forcing it? I don't want Clementine in Spanish. How can I solve this?

Re: Mint 13, 64 bit, KDE USB speed problem

One thing is the theorical speed an USB port (or whatever port) protocol can give and a quite different thing is what actual speed a device can give. Many flash drives and mechanical drives cannot reach those max transfer speeds. True bottlenecks. It often happens if you don't thoroughly check the s...

Re: Problem updating Maya - dpkg broken

I've tried several things I've found trying to fix dpkg after the Broadcom wifi driver install crash. Nothing worked. So a new fresh reinstall needed... Forget that driver. I've found this [url=http://thoughts.stuart-edwards.info/index.php/sysadmin/linux/how-to-enable-wireless-in-ubuntu-12-10-on-a-d...

Re: Making the move to Linux Mint 15

Likes The clean fuss free look and feel of Linux. Brisk operation speed. The internet is another world now and I don't need security software either. I'm back in control of my laptop. My laptop used to take 45 minutes to power up now it takes less than 60 seconds. I haven't had to buy a new laptop ...

Re: Problem updating Maya - dpkg broken

Ok, the problem is back again. It happens when I try to install the proprietary driver for the Broadcom Wifi. It happens like described above and updates (via software manager, Synaptic or Terminal) stop working at all always ending up with the same message. Any ideas about how getting rid of this?

http://i41.tinypic.com/14t4rgm.png Lastly, in Eclipse, I noticed some of the text labels are also cut off: 2. The group boxes are meant to look that way in the Oxygen style. If you don't like that, use a different style. The QtCurve style works great for me. Yes, That's Oxigen. But AFAIK only for s...

Problem updating Maya - dpkg broken

I just installed Maya KDE on my sister's Dell Inspiron 1501. When I run Software manager it shows the typical mintupdate 4.4.7. When clicking to install updates it reports and error and asks to manually run this: sudo dpkg --configure -a If running this on a terminal window, at a given point the scr...

Still on Olivia RC? Why not upgrading to the current final release instead of dealing with (and trying to fix) a pre-release testing version.

Check with Synaptic if you have the packages mintdrivers and kcm-mintdrivers installed.
