Power management is still enabled for everything else.
Awesome. I really appreciate your help! :)

I believe that worked. See my post above.

The question now, is how do I run this command each time I unplug my laptop? I know how to get it to run on each boot--but per unplug? No clue.

Re: Wifi doesn't work when unplugged from power source

did you install some power management tools like laptop tools? or tlp? Nope. I just made sure neither of those was installed. I'm running a clean install of Linux Mint 17. I've only been running it for a month or so now. EDIT: It seems that if I disable it while plugged in, and then unplug, the pow...

Re: Wifi doesn't work when unplugged from power source

no you either leave it enabled or disable it (it uses less then 1 Watt at full speed and less when you are not browsing or downloading) Try it first and if it works we can make it permanent (in case it kicks in after reboot) Disabling it didn't fix it. I left my laptop on, unplugged, and I come bac...

Is there a way to configure it so it can be on yet not cause issues? Will I have to run this after every boot?

[SOLVED] Wifi doesn't work when unplugged from power source

Wifi is great when I'm connected to a power source--the moment I unplug my laptop, Wifi get's iffy, and I tend to run into disconnects frequently. I've tried all kernels from 3.13.0-27 through 3.13.0-32. There is tweak to add for me that makes it (speed) better when plugged in--check the link below ...

I've been having similar issues. Wifi is great when I'm connected to a power source--the moment I unplug my laptop, Wifi get's iffy, and I tend to run into disconnects frequently. I've tried all kernels from 3.13.0-27 through 3.13.0-32. However, I should note that 3.13.0-24 seems to work alright ; t...

Re: Wifi Hardware switch doesn't work (Mint 17)

Do you happen to know anything about the key just not being registered as an input? Sorry but no. But I think this is the core of the problem though, that the key(s) are just not recognized correctly in a lot of Linux distros. It seems to affect Asus and HP laptops more, but some others too. That l...

Re: Wifi Hardware switch doesn't work (Mint 17)

You may be doomed here (kidding) this is a difficult problem and is related to Linux not handling that Fn-Fx combo correctly. There are bug reports on launchpad for this issue but I'll share what I know with you. Here's 2 links regarding that Wifi hardware switch, but these are more about Wifi not ...

<SOLVED> Wifi Hardware switch doesn't work (Mint 17)

I just installed Mint 17 (coming from Mint 14). Mint 14 was fine. I have a hardware switch on my laptop (HP Envy Spectre 14). It apprears to not do anything at this time. If I'm connected to a network, the button is lit correctly; when I'm disconnected, it is lit correctly. Pressing the button does ...

Re: Mint 17 Cinnamon random freezes

At least I know I'm not the only one! I'll give the Ctrl-Alt-F6 thing to see if I can even do that. I should probably just go back to booting in LMDE until (if) I get this solved... I can always play Civ V on the Windows side. I've had similar issues. I just installed Linux Mint 17 yesterday, and I...

Re: Cinnamon - freeze and locks up - howto debug ?

I concur--I never had freezing like this in Mint 14; I upgraded with clean install of Mint 17, and it freezes often. It seems to happen whenever something is being changed with Cinnamon (i.e., changing themes, fonts, anything in Cinnamon settings, etc.). ctrl+alt+backspace doesn't stop the freezing ...

Re: Trying to remove starter from launcher applet

I have the same issue. This is the Panel-launchers applet. I've added Photoshop using the right-click menu, "Add" button. I fill out the stuff for making it a launcher (name, command, description, icon, etc.). It creates TWO launchers for the same thing. However, if I right click to remove one of th...

Re: Mint 17 Cinnamon random freezes

I've had similar issues. I just installed Linux Mint 17 yesterday, and I get freezes too often. I came from Linux Mint 14, which was fine in this regard. The freezes seem to happen at seemingly random intervals. The only way to unfreeze it is to ctrl+alt+F6 then run killall -HUP cinnamon then press ...

I see what OP is saying. I just upgraded from Mint 14 today (upgraded to Mint 17), and noticed this oddity also. In Mint 14, bookmarks look like this in Nemo: http://i1300.removed/albums/ag88/caribriz/Nemobluesidepanewithgreenhighlight.png In Mint 17, bookmarks look like this: http://i.imgur.com/Pnq...
