Re: [solved] DVD/USB drive icon missing from sys tray

Okay, it appears I just managed to hide the relevant icon. Re-enabled it in system tray setting, everything is well. :)

Volumes, shmolumes… :P

KDE 4.8, no changes to any packages that could have triggered the disappearance. Is it possible I disabled it somehow?

[solved] DVD/USB drive icon missing from sys tray

I am missing the icon in the system tray that shows what USB drives are connected etc. I don’t even know exactly what it is called so that I could search for similar problem reports. Any idea how I can make it reappear or where to look for more help?

Is there any cool stuff in 4.8 that would (should?) make me want to do the upgrade?

Sure. Is there a brand or a chipset that is certain to work on LM11?

Which wireless USB adapter to get for LM11?

If there were one brand or chipset of wireless USB adapters that worked flawlessly on Mint 11, what would it be? I am looking for an inexpensive alternative to a TL-WN721N that doesn’t seem to be supported (as in not detected at all, not even the LED will turn on).

As I said, the device is not even detected, i.e. lsusb does not show it as present in the system.

Re: TP-Link TL-WN721N USB stick not detected

This device can come with different internal chips. Some are supported out-of-the-box, some aren't. Did you check Control Center > Additional Drivers? Yeah, I did. The device doesn’t come up there either. Somewhat old, but here is a guide that is referred to multiple times from various posts on thi...

TP-Link TL-WN721N USB stick not detected

Hey guys, I am trying to get a TL-WN721N wireless USB stick to work on Mint 11 x64. I had kernel 3.1.5 running, just updated to 3.2.1, both times the wireless stick isn’t detected. Not even its LED comes on, lsusb likewise comes up empty. The stick itself works, though, tested on Win7. Any ideas wha...

Increase notification area icon size

To increase the size of the notification area icons, which seem to me to be way too small: in gnome-shell.css locate the “.system-status-icon” value and change “icon-size” to, for example, 16px.

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!

It could be that ATI has not updated their drivers for the latest kernels. I've found that for me the open-source driver works quite well, providing all the appropriate effects. The OSS driver works well for me too (Radeon 5450). Except that it doesn’t seem to do hardware acceleration for HD video....

Where are the power management options in LM12?

I cannot seem to find any options in LM12 to spin down harddisks, dim the screen after a specified time, and change power button behaviour. Where should I look?

Re: RC 12 Mint panels and icons

Bugs in the RC should be reported at https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint Could you have been any less helpful? Plus, this could have been a machine- or user-specific rainbows. No way to know yet whether this is even remotely likely to be a bug. And yet you send someone over to launchpad on his own...

How to dim screen on idle in LM12?

Is there a way to dim the screen in LM12’s Gnome 3 session. The power manager only has two useless settings on when to suspend and what to do if power is low. Google turned up nothing. :(
