Re: update manager and thunderbird

thank you. I do appreciate the comments and yes, it is working.
however, I have been using thunderbird for years, and prize the updates re security issues...which we care about here.
so I strongly prefer to have a reliable mechanism to update it.
do you have any thought as to why this is happening?

Re: canon mf634cdw

canon mf634cdw

Hi, have printer appearing in list of available printers...using a driver I just got from canon's web site. it is a debian file. It installed with no issues, but when I go to print anything, the pages are blank....test or otherwise. I'm a new kid but have a working knowledge of Mint's latest version...

Re: veracrypt

eureka! found someone else with same issue. they suggested using the rev for ubuntu 18.04 rather than 19.x....indicating..and it makes sense to me now; I should have thought about it....that mint revs may not be numerically in lockstep with ubuntu revs...and sure enough, here it is....making me real...

Re: veracrypt

ps with no disrespect to anyone intended, but insofar as we have severe security requirements here that mandate that we deal with original vendor code only, a PPA install is not in the cards for us on any software.
again, thank you.

Re: How to install the Nvidia proprietary drivers in LinuxMi

re my previous post "solution", sad to say, it turned out not to be one. upon rebooting, while I could use my mouse to make a grub selection, I never could get it or my <external> keyboard to work to actually log on...at the log in screen, neither works, so I cannot log in. I suspect this may be rel...

nvidia quadro 4000

Hi, I have attempted via wget, sudo and .run commands...per instructions for 64 bit linux systems....to install and nvidia driver. mint 16 seemed to go well but then said I needed to log in as a root user to install. I did that....and then got an error message...which, candidly, I do not recall, but...
