Re: What if Linux Mint moved away from Ubuntu?

In my opinion, no, Mint shouldn't move away from Ubuntu. I would never use Ubuntu itself, because of its spyware (that's what I call collecting user's data and selling it to Amazon), but the distros I like are Ubuntu based: Linux Mint and Trisquel. Ubuntu has let their users down, but it used to be ...

Re: resize font

Yes, it's absolutely possible in Mint. In fact, I'm using it a lot. But I don't know why it doesn't work for you though. :?
Hopefully, more experienced users will be able to help you.

Re: Graphics and display settings

Unfortunately my monitor doesn't have any built in controls (I have a laptop). I can change brightness with Fn+arrow keys, but like I said it only changes by 10:10-20-30-40...etc. :(

Graphics and display settings

Hello, people I replaced Windows 7 with Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon about 6-7 weeks ago. Since then, I've been using it as my only OS and it's been absolutely amazing. However, I have one problem. Even though I have brightness set to 50% (40% is too dim), and all other settings are set to default(resolut...

Re: Where is ~/.local

Hi, Coomkeen
.local is a hidden folder, so you should unhide it. I found .local in my Home folder. Go to your home folder and press Ctrl+H or tick "Show hidden files" in View. Then you'll see .local. Double-click it and you'll find share, cinnamon and extensions too. :)

Re: Screen Lock activation time

Hello, kanichiro I don't know which version of Linux Mint you have, but I have LM 15 and screen lock settings are in "Screensaver & Lock Settings". Probably you already know where to find it - it's in System Settings>Preferences>Screensaver & Lock Settings. There, below brightness settings, I have l...

Re: Проблема установки. Windows 8 и linux mint

Так как я плохо говорю по русский, I'll answer in English, ладно? So, your first problem is creating a bootable USB. If for some reason, Linux Live USB Creator doesn't work for you, then just use another program. Unetbootin is a good alternative, but you can also try "Universal USB Installer"...

Re: Persistent Screen Brightness FIX Mint 15 Question

I have Lenovo G560 :D cheZ, you shouldn't change anything in either intel or acpi files. These files only tell you about your monitor's max.brightness and help you calculate the number you'll use later. In your case, intel_backlight is 4648, and acpi_video files show 15. So if, for example, you want...

Re: Persistent Screen Brightness FIX Mint 15 Question

I had the same question. My intel_backlight was showing 976, both acpi_video0 and acpi_video1 were showing max.brightness of 10. I risked and changed the number to 488 (half of intel_backlight), but after the reboot the brightness was still at 100%. So I changed the number to 5 and after rebooting t...
