Re: MOZILLA FIREFOX (version 26) for Linux Mint -mint 1.0

Hi partha, Another more traditional way of installing Ubuntu restricted extras is through the terminal emulator by typing the following command line: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras In addition, in order to play DVDs, you need to install libdvdcss by entering the following command line...

Re: xfce instead of mate

Hi Jona, To the best of my knowledge, one way of doing this is through a Linux Mint XFCE dvd (or usb stick). However, I would recommend you to take my suggestion as provisional, since I am also not that experienced with Linux Mint. I assume that more seasoned users will comment on your post soon. So...

Re: MOZILLA FIREFOX (version 26) for Linux Mint -mint 1.0

Re: Help! Failed to start the X server!

I am away from home on a business trip, and don't have any live medium with me. :(

I did attempt root menu (sudo -i) to purge NVIDIA, which was successfully done, I was however unable to install noveau.

[*]E: unable to locate package noveau[*]

Thanks for your message austin.texas. I assume that a newer kernel is more secure, however, I am not certain how correct is that.

Petra backports Linux Mint 13

Hi guys,

I just read at Linux Mint blog (http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2524) that the Petra backports are available for Mint 13 Maya. I was wondering what are the main benefits of installing the Petra backports into Maya? Special reference to Maya xfce will be much appreciated.

Thanks
