Re: Wifi disconnecting and slow.

Re: What are your top tips for a Newbie?

Here are my tips for a newbie, from a newbie. My first tip is to experiment with what works and what doesn't. Obviously you wouldnt want to go and compile your own kernel if your a new guy like me. However, you could start by modifying simple things. Things like the login screen, menu's, custom desk...

Re: Kernel panic after installing wireless drivers

Okay, it looks like it may be a hardware and/or driver issue. I tried booting into recovery mode and all I saw was pixels that I think were supposed to be text across the screen. Then I got solid bars and a blue/white/black background, so I rebooted. I can program in Linux when wifi is not connected...

Kernel panic after installing wireless drivers

Hello. I seem to have broken my Linix mint installation... Here's what I did, with much trial and error: I followed THIS tutorial, including all the extra steps at the bottom I noticed no change in wi...

Re: Wifi disconnecting and slow.

I suppose I should always mention my Linux distro and DE, and hardware. I'm running Linux Mint 15 Oliva Gnome with cinnamon desktop, 64 bit. My laptop is running and AMD A4-4300M APU, and the wifi adapter is a Ralink RT3290. Will edit original post. @macfflei I hovered over my battery icon, and it d...

Re: LibreOffice writer crashing after opening a .docx file

I'm adding a reply (rather than an edit) to indicate a solved topic. The problem was that my partition wasn't mounted. Following this tutorial to mount partitions worked for me. Topic solved! :)

Wifi disconnecting and slow. [solved]

Hello everyone! My wifi seems to disconect randomly, and is slow. This is not the case in windows 8. I can web browse and use teamspeak 3 fine in windows 8. In linux, Teamspeak 3 will drop connection and lag horribly. Also, my adapter seems to shut off (drop connection) randomly. Here is the output ...

Re: Who is Mints target user?

@RavenLX Thanks for the positive feedback! I forgot to mention gimp in my post. I love gimp too! I just experiment with it, make my own desktop backgrounds/wallpapers. Regarding the hot corners, if you go into your setting, all settings, there should be a setting literally called hot corners at whic...

Re: Who is Mints target user?

Having come from a windows background, I found using Mint 15 with a cinnamon desktop works great! I switched to Linux after being fed up with windows 8's constant problems, lack of a good user interface, and the bloat. I think that Mint's target user is someone who comes from a windows background. H...

Re: LibreOffice writer crashing after opening a .docx file

No, I have not. I thought I had removed my ubuntu partition, but I may not have. It still shows up in the...menu, of sorts (I know its not the GRUB menu). Heres what I will do: 1) Figure out what the "menu of sorts" is called. 2) Test to see if I can boot into ubuntu by doing the following: -Shutdow...
